Reason I ask is they have a fun challenge going on at my gym. I saw it on my way out this morning so I thought i'd have a quick bash before I left. Pretty sure I could do it faster at the start of a workout rather than at the end but I managed 3:34. Hoping to get it down to around 3 minutes if thats humanly possible.

I was the first bloke to put down a time, the fastest women did it in around 4:10 I think.

What's that? About 10mph ish for 4mins? I reckon I couldn't do that :p Would be nearer 4.20ish. Although I'm pretty unfit.

Of course I may have just said a ridiculously slow time :p

Not sure. I can run six in about 27 minutes, but obviously i would be considerably faster per km if I was only running one!

I run 3k in 12 mins (on a good day), so I reckon i could do 3 mins, thats got to be running at what 20km an hour? its pretty much sprinting pace for me on a treadmill.I would be completely and utterly knackered after that!

Yeh my eventual target will be to do the entire run at 20km/h, as thats the max the treadmills go upto. Today I started at 17, then went upto 20 for about a minute, then the hurt kicked in and I was forced down to 14km/h before I slowly crept up again towards the end.

Hmm don't remember how fast i run 1km as we were mostly running 1.5km and i did that in ~4:20 (17 years old, 11 years ago).
Think my 400m time was just over 1min so from that i'd say 1km under 3min.
I was crap in sprint 100m - 14sec but enjoyed 1.5km or 3km. We also used to run as much as we could in 12min but i have no idea what i managed anymore.

If i was to run 1km now it would be around 8min. :D

About 3:05 mins based on mile intervals of just over 5 mins. Not bad for an old man.

...and on the road, none of this wishy washy treadmill stuff :p

Well bearing in mind that Paula Radcliffe maintained around a 3.20 minute kilometer average (that's if I've got my sums right of course) for the entirety of a her marathon record, really makes you realise just how slow you are :)

I'll give it a go tomorrow. I'm guessing I can do it in about 4 minutes. I'm crap at running long distance. I'm ok at sprint though (100m max mind you)

To be fair tho, PR is someone who eats, sleeps and drinks, running. She even ran a 1/2 marathon (might have been 10k) while she was pregnant:eek:

Using my mile time I ran 5 years ago (I think, may have been 4) and my poor maths it would work out as 3 mins 10 or something or other.

Right now though I think my body would fall apart if I tried running that far. :(

i think may be about 4mins, depends what i feel like on the day can make such a different if i have had a good night sleep lol

Just did it again, got 3:16. Literally on maximum speed (20km/h) for the entire time apart from about 45-50 secs on 18km/h. Even at maximum for the duration i'm not sure if it'd be below 3 minutes.

Obviously I have to start from 0km/h so I lose time as it goes upto 20km/h.

Why dont you get the machine upto 20km before you get on it? its cheating mind:p
