It was just simply amazing, driving another car now is simply boring!

I stuck my foot on the accelerator at 40 and was at 60 in less than a second

Basically my uncle got married and lives down south. He went down and this is his car. He went to the shop or similar and saw it in the garage on the way and just bought it lol.

Its truly an awesome car! He let me drive it and as i flew past on the way out my mum was watching. When i came back her first words were "You really suit that car" - my dad then phoned as he wasnt at the wedding and she told him how much i suited the car.....

I just said "well if i suit it that much, remortgage the house and buy me one!"

lol... thought i would share with you!

cost him over £100k

Anyone else driven one and now wishes they could buy one?

Indeed. Ive test driven one at Porsche of Reading and it was out of this world compared with anything i have driven before.

Half of me wishes that i was more wreckless and bought one. Amazing cars, definitely worth a purchase at some point in your life.

Interesting. They are what, 97k new? So over 100k means he bought a new one with options. I always thought there was a 6 month+ lead time on these from factory so how did he manage to 'just buy' one he saw in the garage?

I haven't checked but I doubt there's much of a waiting list for them now, there will be plenty of ex demonstrators around too.

You are actually talking about a different car to me. I cant afford a 997, thus was testing 996's. But yeah, a seemingly endless wall of power right from 2000rpm with seemingly endless grip. All wrapped in a gorgeous shell. Utterly fantastic.

call me old fashioned but i grew up in the 80's and the yuppy stigma suit and red braces still sticks, never liked them never will, much prefer a 944 turbo

As far as I remember it, it was actually the 944 Turbo that had the whole yuppie stigma in the 80's.

I guess he bought it used.

What is your carriage of choice, out of interest? To find them repulsive just smacks of inexperience.

I find them repulsive to look at, but then that really isn't the point of them!

Great cars, but the looks certainly aren't for me. Cannot comment on how they drive as I have only been a passenger in one, and only driven the lowly Boxster S.
