In amusement arcades you get the machines that push two and ten pence pieces. You puts your money in, it falls down and you hope the pushing arms push more money out for you.

How do these machines actually make the owner's money?

How often do you empty/refill the machine?

How much do they cost to run?

Are there any amusement arcade workers that can enlighten me?

I'm off to bed now. I hope to wake up to some good answers.

Thanks and g'night

Andrew.

They make money by having slots down the sides, so not all fo the coins that fall off the tray are collected by the player ;)

They just have two slots at the sides, usually covered over by a metal plate to make it less obvious. Everything that gets pushed to the sides near the drop zone goes back into the machine.

Surely you guys have heard a load of 2ps drop before now to only look and see there were no winnings in your tray.

These machines, like all others are there to make money.

its simply a matter of physics and maths, the coins get bunched up, so you always have to put more in than the number that drop out...its very simple really.

If you pumped a billion 2p coins in, you would get less than a billion coins back, they dont make much money, but they are guarenteed to make some profit.

To answer the question,:

A: yes they make a small ammount of money.

B: the best way to fill them is by manually pumping in lots of coins.
