Not really affecting the other cards as much by the looks of some of the prices. Maybe the gtx280's are more recent stock. Checked out the 4870's and they seem to be holding there price.
 
If by "just around the corner" you mean in around 3-4 months time (according to reports) then yes... they are just around the corner. ;)

That's like saying, 'it's just around the corner', when in reality this corner is just a 30-40 mile stretch of road with a slight tendency towards the left. :p
 
I would not be waiting on the 55nm version at all if its 3-4 months away. If its just a die shrunk gtx280 with more shader speed and clock speeds you can do this with the gtx280 that we have atm using an oc tool and probably would not be far off the performance of this new card. Probably be called ultra280. Sounds better than the gtx280+.

Not if it means delaying a graphics card purchase for that long it isn't! GTX280 in its current state is very very fast and the new 55nm one will likely be around 10%-15% faster at best. Get the best deal you can now on whatever card you want and enjoy!
