Has anyone ever seen a pin come off a stick of RAM?

I'm just working on a friends PC. It's been unstable since last week so I've taken it apart to swap out parts and find out where the problem lies.

After testing the memory and trying it in each slot I suddenly found I'd lost 2Gb of it. On closer inspection it was easy to see why.

Check this out, I've never seen this happen before!

and now the missing piece, still in the slot

How odd is that. The slot still work fine but it's damn hard trying to get the bit of copper out.

looks like a decent camera u took those pics with, what is it?

Yeah I was quite impressed. I reduced the size from the originals too. Full res they were clearer still.

It's a Canon SD870 IS which I bought refurbished from a well known auction site. They are called 'Ixus' in this country.

you could make that work again if you had some time, get the bit of copper out, superglue it back down.

Take off the soldermask from the track going from the via to that pad and solder it up
