...for £1,120

Ford is offering dealer-fit performance upgrades for the Focus ST which take it interestingly close to the hotly anticipated RS model. The Mountune Performance package will retail at £1,120 (plus fitting) and consists of a larger intercooler, a high-flow air filter and revised engine calibration.

Not a bad price I guess considering you get a bigger intercooler and air filter and get to keep your warranty..

How much does it cost DIY with the DS remap (including intercooler and air filter)?

Hi there

Its good to see Ford doing this, its common place in the US for them to offer performance and handling packages which they warrent and fit. :)

Strategem Duo is £549 but you can normally get it through the FSTOC for £500, around £500 for a proalloy intercooler (not sure which one Ford will use) and don't know which air filter they will use - need to do some digging..

edit : according to FSTOC - The kit will consist of the Mountune remap, a Pro Alloy Intercooler, and K&N Panel Filter.

Produces 256bhp and 329 lb/ft.

edit 2 :
Details on the Mountune Website..

Fords price sits quite nicely then. It's a shame they didn't go for a more aggressive remap to 270bhp - I guess it wouldn't look good with the RS coming out soon.

hmm - was considering getting an proalloy IC for mine, might be better to sell the DS and get this instead. A bit more but probably worth it for the warranty and better residuals..

Indeed. I'm just thinking if £1,120 + fitting could be justified for 35bhp.

Would like to see the graphs for it and see how it compares to the DS maps. tbh the max bhp really isn't the issue with these cars as you're pushing the boundaries anyway with FWD.

The benefit is in the driveability and feel of the car across the range with additional torque and the turbo coming in much faster, harder and longer which transforms it into a much more livelier drive.

These NEED an intercooler really to go with any remap. A quick look at the dyno day article in this month's fast Ford mag will confirm this. (and while you're there have a look at the nice sierra in the reader's rides bit at the back :D)

It'll probably come to about £1.5k inc fitting. You could DIY it for less i think. Although the fact you get to keep the warranty is a plus.

I'm not sure on this. 35bhp for £1,120 + fitting.

It's a good price for a manufacturer backed upgrade. Subaru have been charging 2k for their PPP for donkeys years and no one seems to complain about whacking that on to keep the dealer happy :)

Out of warranty is another story though, but on a new/nearly new car it's a good deal imho.
