Not on an old heap corsa it won't be. A decent merc/BMW/bigger car, yes. Corsa is a pile of turd with wheels.

Give us more details, how old is the car? (old shape could be a number of shapes) how much is it going for? what's the condition like?
Then we can give you an educated answer on whether its worth it. Corsas are hardly good cars but if its cheap then it may be ok.

You would be a double victim in this case. Not only would you be £450 out of pocket, some malicious, evil, twisted sod would have forced a Corsa LS on you.

Is your budget £500? I think many people would recommend a Fiesta 1.25, my Fiat Punto (year 2000) has done almost 104,000 miles now and still runs fine, does regular long trips and set me back £950 so this could also be an option. From personal experience and being on here I would say avoid the corsa.

Despite what everyone will say they are not the worst cars in the world, but they are far from the best, yes the insurance is cheaper but an old corsa with 150,000 miles is hardly a good specimen, and it is worht considering how much you might spend keeping it on the road, new cam belt £200, new tyres, £200 etc etc.
Mondeos are a good example and the 1.6 isn't to harsh on the insurance and there are so many about you can afford to be picky and the parts are in abundence.
what you maximum budget? as £450 restricts you somewhat, the mondeo link was just an example of what you can get for the money (much better than the corsa, no?).

Prices are and absolute rip off in my area, 1k will just about get you a S reg 1.25 fiesta.
that my point, you can buy a bigger, nicer car for half the price and this will cover the extra insurance.
OP if you want a corsa fine, but you will have some large bills you way very soon.
High Mileage is not an issue on most cars, but a corsa will have done half that round towns and getting raped.
120,000 on a mondeo wouldnt always worry me as it probably was a motorway cruiser. You can more or less guarantee that a small car has been around towns all its life and town driving is a lot more stressful on cars.
My case is a prime example, i have 3k to spend, i can either but a 1.25 Mk 5 fiesta with low mileage for £2500, or for the same money i can buy a 1.8 focus with the same mileage and the same age for the same price. For me its a no brainer.
yhave put in some quotes and the difference with the quotes are quite a bit for me so the big cars are generally a no go at the moment.
