As title, when i boot up everything starts until the 4 red lights flash just above where the 2 x pci-e power cables go into it.

after that the boot just dies with no beeps or anything.

any ideas? if i rma i wont have a card for ages.

What psu do you have? Do you have an old card to try in the machine to see what happens? Have you got any other pc's in the house to try the card in or a friends machine?

its a corsair 520, havnt got a spare pci-e card or another machine to check it in but think i will order a cheap one for a htpc build anyway.

Anyone had a similar experience with this problem?

so you borked it by changing the cooler, id try reseating it, if its still buggerd then i guess its unlucky if you cant find the original cooler, as you wont be able to RMA it without putting that one back on. :(

Borked it? had extremely low temps for a month now so really dont think thats the issue

such a simple thing but perhaps take the card out, (check there is nothing on MoBo an card itself) and put it back in.

my old gf4 died once and i have no idea why but after putting it back in worked =s - Detection maybe? or drivers?

That's pretty harsh if so, it's bad enough that they ship with **** coolers without them being fragile to 3rd party ones as well.

ok found the original fan so going to rma it (take it i phone overclockers for a rma number?)

I take it this prosses will take a wee while tho?
so in the mean time i think i will order another 4870 for crossfire when the new one arrives back.

question is
1, are the 512mb 4870's crossfired not a bad idea cos of low ram amounts?

2, what corsair psu would i need to comftably run 2 4870's

and 3, would this be a waste of time as my mobo in only 8x in crossfire?
