X3 - Worth putting back on computer?

I am going through a bare patch for games and was wondering if X3 was worth reinstalling as I never really gave it a fair go before.

Are there any mods or extra content that is recommended as a download?

Looking forward to this! Been a while since I have played a space sim of any kind. Just hope it doesn't take ages to learn... not because I do not appreciate a certain level of complexity, just have so little time these days :rolleyes: :p

...and then another 2 months for it to be patched up to avoid game-breaking bugs (from past experience with the x-series).

I love the x-series, and have probably spent more time playing it than any other game series, but every time I've tried to play the first retail release I've been burned.
 
Hopefully this will be quite good. I never got around to playing much X3 as it was punishing my old system so I'm quite looking forward to giving this a blast.
 
I got tired of the part on X3 where you were in the back of the ship having to shoot pirates...or something.

Kept getting it wrong, can't remember much must have been years ago now.
Never played since, I guess they fixed whatever I was having issues with.
 
But back to the OPs original question.

Yes it's worth sticking back on your PC it's a great game that still looks amazing. Theres tons of mods out there from guilds like the Bounty Hunters Guild that gives you extra missions, to the Xtreme mod that gives new ships/campaigns etc.

Every now and again I fire it up and just cruise around the Kingdoms Ends sector listening to the music and enjoying the scenery :)

Could you link me to some good mods. I would prefer action type missions if possible.

Maybe something that starts me with a huge ship lol
