OK my first console for a while (PS3) and I want a footy game - it seems FIFA is the one to get and I have to admit I probably played that more in the past than PES.

Anyway as Ive not played one for an age (FIFA 06 was my last) and I know the FIFAs are now a different beast how easy is it to pick up the new features?

Ive played the FIFA 09 demo and I quite like it though Im really woeful (they changed 'change player' and Im forever hitting X). I was wondering should I just get FIFA 08 cheap and get some practise in or just wait for FIFA 09? I just dont want to embarrass myself...

Also is there a PSN list on the forums so I can put my details in? My PSN ID (I think) is polynomial007 (the PSN Store one).

I think if your good at 08 you will certainly have an upper hand when moving onto 09.

Personally though just play the demo, its not long to wait for 09 and 08 isn't that cheap really, especially for someone who will only play it for a couple of weeks until 09 is out.

Download the 08 Demo, and play both :)

Explain yourself, evil Apple-ite!!!

I much prefer Pro Evolution over Fifa but I wouldn't want to start a 3rd version of that argument, as I'm sure it already exists in the Fifa 2009 thread and I've recently added my own part to that in the Pro Evolution 2009 thread. ;)

Cheers guys,

Ill hold off and try both demos (including PES 09 - if there is one) and take it from there. Stupid question as Ive not played online yet, but can you play those demos online?

If you don't mind only playing as International teams, Euro 2008 offers a closer style of play to FIFA09 than FIFA08 does to be honest.

I say buy Fifa08... *Ahem*... I think Ps3ud0 knows why ;)

Especially if you can find it a bargain price 2nd hand :p

Thought Id update people - played the FIFA 09 demo for an hour (albeit in beginners mode) and Im loving it...

Unlike the old FIFAs where you had to wait for animations to complete or get used to the input lag this seems much more responsive. Unsure how useful those tricks you can do are as they seem to just get in the way - perhaps Im still too slow...

Also can you actually score without using the finesse shot - doesnt seem so...

Looking forward to the release - though why are console games so expensive :p

Thought Id reuse this thread as its pertinent...

If I wanted to play online how good should I be offline? I was playing as a begineer on the demo and getting good - tried the next stage up which puts it into Pro difficulty and though I could defend I just never made a decent chance to score.

Theres no point in playing real people if Im shocking offline so hoping someone can tell me what difficulty I should best before even trying :p

BTW is there are PS3 OcUK club or anything? Seems its all XBOX360 around here :p
