Best 780i board

I'm looking for a 780i board that can take a TRUE.

I believe the EVGA series can't take a TRUE due to the N/B cooler position. If im wrong I was looking at the EVGA 780i F TW edition.

Anyone got any experience with this mobo?

If im right about the N/B cooler can anyone suggest me an alternative?

I need the best board avail for overclocking. I'l be using a q9550 and 4GB Dominator PC2-8500C5 mem with it.

I have had a look at other chipsets but reason I'm goin nforce is because I may add a 2nd gtx 280 at a later point and I like the ntune features on the 7 series boards.

only real option is the striker ii formula

which i read in review is not that good at overclocking cause of the hot nb
 
I have just got the EVGA 780i "for the win" and it is great.

I have it paired with the E8600 and am running very nicely at 4.4, not even touched voltages yet.

Many, many people will tell you not to touch Nvidia mobo,s but unlesss you are into L2N or phase i have found them to oc just as well as many intel boards if not better than some!

performance wise if you can spot 2-3 fsp drop over a high end intel board then fair enough go to intel but I rekon that real world performance is just as good.

Go 780i :D
 
I've got an Asus P5N-T Deluxe, it's not a bad board but I had to keep updating the BIOS to keep it stable. I'd stay away from it tbh.
 
i've bin lookin at buying a 780i board such as the EVGA but the XFX luks identical :confused:
so whats the difference if any to put one above the other ?
 
Forgive my bluntness but asking "what is the best 780i board" is rather like asking "would you prefer to be shot or gassed?"

In all seriousness though, if I had to choose one as of now, surely the EVGA *** edition would be by far the best option since it came out so much later and EVGA have themselves addressed certain issues that plagued earlier incarnations. It has solid state caps, a more tweakable BIOS, better power distribution (surely a good thing for Quads - which the original was often hopeless for) and it's supposed to run cooler (ie. doesn't melt tungsten anymore...).

It all seems to come down to the CPU with this chipset. The vast majority of dual core users seem perfectly content, 65nm quad corers have mixed opinions and 45mn quad corers are currently nearly all in rehab.
