HTC Touch HD... 800x400, 5MP, GPS, 3G, 3.5mm jack...

Clicky ..its french but still a decent demo

I was looking at the xperia but every demo I have seen looks like the software will need more work... a lot ,ore work. They try to hide that when demo'ing, but you can see it has some flaws and will probably need a few updates, this on the other hand looks absolutely superb...

Ok, the htc it just looks fat (width) and to me that makes an uncomfortable phone, maybe good for web browsing but that isn't my reasonf or buying a mobile :) And to be honest it looks cheap too.

I'll be sticking with my xperia x1 thanks :)
As to the sluggish ui - personally apart from load (thats wmobile for you) I think its fairly snappy in this review and also when watching some of the newest youtube videos (dev kit one for example) of it.

Thanks for the link, its made me feel a little better about getting the xperia. Its the phone that I want. I have an Ipod Touch, I dont want something that is so similar anyway. However, the HTC looks superb!

You will probably end up saying what most people do, the touch keyboards are actually quiet good and the need for the qwerty slide out is not as great anymore.

Well thats what I have noticed from a few users of the pro.

I just hope this comes out soon.

You'r right, apart from that fact that using it accurately when you are moving is fairly hard. Like walking and texting, or being the passanged in a car and doing it is a pretty lengthy process.

Hmm, i've never seen HTC phones on o2 before. Might need to move network when my contract expires! Looks like one hell of a phone, and a good replacement for my N95

Just found a site taking pre-orders of the touch hd for £580 with a release date of Nov 8th.

I hope Orange get this on quickly so I can upgrade.

Sweet my contract is up in January, think i'll move to orange and get one of these bad boys.

I was going to get one of them until i saw the 550 price tag. Not a chance in hell would i pay that for a phone. No phone is worth that imo and you would be stupid to pay that much for it. Im in love with the phone but im only on the simplicity contract :( lol.

I'd love a slide / dual version of this, with a numeric keypad....

Mmmm - now that would be a great 'phone!

Ermmm well £550 is a good price if your buying it sim free ie unlocked and not branded by any network etc.

Now if you buy the phone with a contract, it tends to work out a lot more expensive but you dont cough up the money before u get the phone. For example....you might get the HD on a free contract at say £40 a mth but the contract lasts 18 mths...so 40x18=£720 that your paying over 18mths but as i said you dont feel the pinch as your only paying £40 a mth over 18 mths.

Personally im not a fan of network branded phones so im quite happy to pay £500 odd quid to get a phone that i wont have to de-brand in order to get the best out of it:)....plus most networks are notorious ie Vodaphone in particular at disabling certain features of the phone.

Fud had a play with this phone... http://www.fudzilla.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=10052&Itemid=1

HTC just showcased its new Touch HD PDA / Phone and we can say that the company did a good job and got rid of some original problems that we've seen with the Diamond Touch phone.

Touch HD packs a 3.8-inch touchscreen, bigger than iPhone, with only four buttons at the bottom, and we can say that Touch flow works like a charm. This phone is not laggy, as the original Diamond Touch, and we believe that many will be impressed with its speed.

The phone uses the same Qualcomm 528MHz CPU, but it has 288 MB RAM and 512MB ROM. The Touch Pro has the same CPU but 192MB RAM and 256MB Flash size. It completely relies on external microSD cards for storage as it has 325.5MB internal storage and the phone has GPS, a 5 megapixel camera and a 480x800 pixel display. The device will be available in November in at least the Far East market.

Erm, well obviously you get a load of calls, texts and data time too for that £720. Seems like a better deal to me.

Just out of interest how much are you paying over 18mnths for your SIM only contract? If it's less than the £170 difference, or 10 quid a month, I'd be surprised.

Also, I don't think I've ever had a phone as long as 18mnths anyway before upgrading, for free usually.
