I am thinking about buying this excellent system here, some advice would be good from you guys. I am thinking about buying it with Vista Ultimate 32 bit OEM, then with the Antec Twelve Hundred Case.

The only thing that concerns myself is the Arctic Silver 5 Heatsink compound, I trust the OC Techs can confirm that it will be really cold to keep the system running perfect. ? :D

The systems that are built are usually very good value for money and save you putting it together for just a little more pennies.
I've been out of touch with hardware but it does look to be a good system, let the GH people answer better :).

As far as Artic Silver goes it's good stuff, it does help a little the most important thing is the cooler really.
The AS paste gives a better contact from Processor to Cooler, again let the GH people confirm.

Good luck with it :D.

AS5 is great stuff. Look for some reviews of it on the web. It is highly recommended. I use it on my 9550 OC/Rampage Extreme/2x4870x2 system. ;)

that is a beast of a machine
what will you be using it for?

i think you should only consider the 64 bit operating system imo
running 32 bit on something like this would be like putting a fiesta engine in a ferrari

as5 is good stuff - worry not - they wouldnt pre-overclock it and offer a warranty if it was going to mess up due to rubbish thermal paste.

have you done much research on what you want from the machine?

I want the machine to run Bioshock, Medievil 2 Total War Stainlesss Steel 6.0, Stalker, Doom 3 and Battlefield 2 on Maximum Settings with perfect screen speed. Though thankyou on the 64 Bit advice, I might do that one instead of 32 Bit. The only reason I prefer 32 Bit is that my uncle uses it on his laptop and he says it's tried and tested to work really well. Though 64 Bit could be the better option for this. ;)

I would go 64bit all the way. It is tried and tested. Most sites nowadays use 64bit for benchmarks etc.
And also, honestly...unless you are running a 30" monitor at 2560x1600 res, that card setup is overkill.
If you are running at normal res, you will not notice that much $ worth of improvement imho.

I am planning on using my 30 HD TV as the monitor, I think the top format is 2560x1600.

I also intend to use it for the internet/email.

More than likely it'll be 1366x768 (720p) or 1920x1080 (1080p). I'd drop one of the cards and save yourself a few hundred quid.

tbh for those requirements a more modest machine would suit your needs

£800 should be more the budget for something of those requirements

imo this would be the one to go for for what you have said

if you really had to have something top end - i wouldnt consider more than this

anything above that really would be massive overkill for your requirements and would not show great returns in the future

especially with such things as the nehalem platform just arond the corner

and a 64bit OS is the only way to go with over 2gb of ram and a hefty graphics card
if you stick to 32 bit then fair enough - but 64 bit is really the future and will not limit you in the long term

buying the one you originally stated - you would literally be burning your money

and seeing as you are saving about £1500 i suggest getting a nice 24" gaming monitor with a good response time and some nice peripherals like a gaming mouse/keyboard

playing pc games on a hdtv is not ideal at all

The other Games are Conan Age Of Hyborian Adventures, Empire Earth 3, Act Of War Direct Action, Quake 4, World In Conflict, Gothic 3, Neverwinter Nights 1/2, Battlefield Earth 2142 and Empire Add On's. :D

Why only reccomend using Dual Core, why not Quad if that is not for Internet or Gaming, then what use is it supposed to have. ?

quads are useful for encoding and rendering like i use mine for

if i used my pc soely for gaming i wouldd go for a high clocking dual core as not many pc games take advantage of quads

if you want my serious opinion, please dont take offence at this as thats not how its intended - you have a lot of questions - most of them indicate you know very very little about the requirements for a modern games pc, nevermind budget, OS choice, games requirements or hardware in general

the best advice i can give you is that if you want a quick fix then get a prebuilt like i suggested above
if you want the best value for your money then look around the forums - take some time to familiarise yourself with current hardware and terminoligy so that you know what parts you want.

ask advice as thats what a lot of people on here are great at giving

like i say - just give it some time so you know what you want and get used to how the forums work

I have had some ideas for ATI, though given some problems with catalyst converter in the past and the fact that I hate the red and black colouring, I'd rather stay clear. I know this sorta confuses what I said earlier.

I am looking more for Nividia Type, I am also not convinced that this fairly cheap model (£807) could handle all the PC Games, I have mentioned on highest settings, Including smoke, shadowing and maximum anti-alienising. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp....00GHz @ E8800+ 3.66GHz Dual Core DDR2 System

its nvidia
anti aliasing

if you gave me £800 i could easily build a pc that would thrash any game maxed out
even play crysis at high settings

ati crds are just as good if not beter in some respects as nvidia cards - it dont matter - do you want performance or brand names?
