Possiable PSU fault

Before I went away for 7months this year, I seem to remember a few people having problems with there Corsair HX 520W. I n relation to this thread - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17919993

I think I may have a dodgy PSU, I just tried the paperclip trick - http://www.corsair.com/faq/default.aspx and the PSU fan spins as does the fan ive connected the PSU too. But now the PSU makes a kind of clicking noise, and when my PC worked ok I know I didnt hear any noises like this. So going of what ive said do you think its the PSU? :confused:
 
Add few fans more so that 12V load rises above 1A.
(current draw is generally in spec sticker of fan)

Where did you connec CPU HSF's fan? Some motherboards don't like it if they don't see CPU fan running.

One possibility is also ESD damage because problem started when you changed HSF which surely involved handling of motherboard.

Yer I did touch the mtherboard.


Connected the CPU fan to the CPU 4 pin header.

Whats the best way to prevent ESD? The last thing I want to do is screw up my new board and CPU!
