Farcry2 release date 24th Oct

Question.

Do Ubisoft have a history of making good shooters?

Because obviously Crytek know what they're doing but this game is absolutely nothing to do with Far Cry.

So yeah, it will probably be a disappointment.

Looking forward to this, mainly because of the map editor. What cant all map editors be that simple? Half the crap that ships with games these days looks like its stuck 15 years in the past.

Only downside is you can only create mp maps, but its still a step forward for ease of use imo.

As you said these are just MP tools to create a map to run around in. Whereas other tools that ship with games are the same tools that created the full game, Sandbox2 for example.

Is this an all new engine or CryEngine derivative?

Yes but making maps in other games for mp can also be problematic. The fact that map making programs seem to mainly represent 3d via 2d is confusing enough.

Can't say I've used any editor that doesn't have a 3d viewport which you can easily see what you are doing.

Hammer is the weakest editor I have used recently, due to not being able to do much more than just look around in the 3d viewport, and the lighting is poor in the viewport (unless there is a way around this)

The Unreal Engine editors have always had a great 3d viewport, you can make a whole map without looking in the 2d viewport once, also the game is displayed as it is ingame.

Most editors have the 2d viewports as is the way it always has been done, just like with 3dsmax and other 3d software.

Nevertheless I'm looking forward to seeing this editor, and seeing how it compares to others I have used, imagine it will be fine for a simple level, but nothing hugely complex.

I'm sorry... I thought you called me a troll then...

I seen plenty of people thinking it would be running on high perfectly fine with there old 8800GTS's

Game works fine on mine, so meh.

At 1680x1050?

What frame rate? I guess is below 30fps if fine for people and dropping into the teens then so be it, but by playing fine I expect 40+.

I don;t think many pc's, unless they cost a stupid amount of money, run crysis at a constant 40+ fps.
