Crysis Warhead - Gone Gold

Not even a tiny bit tired here, shame i haven't even thought about purchasing warhead yet lol
performance results are pretty much as i expected..i need a new graphics card 
been after one for a while but i'm running vista 64 + dual screens so i'm wary of ati, either gonna get a gtx 260 or a 4850x2 when they launch
got a 8800gts 512 @ 760/2200, low res (1280x1024) i can play it all set to enthusiast, dx9, edgeaa 2, texturestreaming 0 and im averaging around 30fps so totally playable and looks sweet of course but as ever i want more dammit
now 10 more mins or so then bed, need sleep so bad

certainly impressed, it is an upgrade from crysis graphically not a big one but an upgrade never the less
getting 25-40fps at the settings listed above which is basically maximum albeit at low res, one thing to note though is that at those frame rates its absolutely butter smooth and i haven't encountered a single stutter at all
will sort a proper config tomorrow but those 2 commands (edgeaa 2 , texturestreaming 0) are pretty much essential i think

Sounds nice! Hopefully I'll be able to get Gamer level out of my 3850OC at 1400x900...
Okay Ive played for a while now. The performance on Enthusiast is a lot smoother on my card at 1680*1050 than on Very High in Crysis. Its almost playable.
BUT it is clear that the graphical quality is lower. Draw distance is noticable worse than in Crysis (Very High) and I think the textures are worse. The draw distance is particularly annoying as when you walk on a path, you can see rocks on the ground appearing in front of you. This is for stuff which is only about 20m in front of you. If this is how they "optimised" crysis then I am hugely disappointed. In addition, you lose the beautiful cliff faces. They arent as good in warhead.
Also, I don't want to install Gamespy Arcade dammit. How do you prevent it prompting you about it all the time? This is for Crysis Warhead, I havent got round to downloading Crysis Wars yet. In addition, why does it install Punkbuster for Warhead? I've uninstalled that already. If Crysis Wars requires it, then it can install it on its own. I don't need 2 punkbuster services running for no reason whatsoever.
edit: draw distance can be fixed by editing the cfg files in the cvar directory. I've done that with help from someone on another forum and performance is very similar to the original crysis now.

Can you tell me, does the performance still drop a lot when there are a few KPA around?
Generally the original runs fine for me on very high right up until theres a few NPCs near me.
If they fixed whatever was causing this, then I will be happy.
And if the changes that they made are indeed simply by dropping quality, then I guess we can expect not to see the "improvements" patched into the first - as people would know, and they would be a laughing stock.
I'm downloading now at 60% on both warhead and crysis wars (on steam) getting about 800kb a sec on a 8mb line, i'm hoping this will be the game crysis should have been.

Yes its out in shops today.
Channel Island doods have sold out of their initial allocation.
Set mine off downloading from Steam before I left for work, so should be ready by the time I get home
