One for all the graffiti haters...

Whilst at my parents a few weeks back, I found a few of my old scratch/ideas/planning pads. On one hand, it was great to look back at the themes and styles I used in my early teens. On the other hand, they do still look a bit on the toy side...And I can't help but wonder what level ten years of solid practice would have allowed me to reach.

From a book marked 'planning, summer 1998':

That ended up around thirty feet long and it had so much detail it was unreal...about a dozen layers, hundreds of intersections...weaving, cutting...everything! :D

Would look nice on a t shirt or in a youthclub, not on the side of someones house or business.

Is this thread anything other than attention seeking? wanting people to post 'show us it properly' blah blah.

It would have been an eyesore.

It's very er, youth-clubish, if you know what I mean. It would be out of place anywhere but youth institutions and village halls and etc. Best leave graffiti to the pros I think (which you seem to be doing so far anyway)

If you don't like it, RTM it. ;)

I found my old pads, thought a couple of people on here would find old stuff a bit interesting, remembered how fun the last 'zomg! graffiti are theh evols!qq' thread was and made the thread.

GD is a place to post junk recently, this is another junk thread, however, its not against the rules so why RTM it?

The last graffiti thread was about graffiti, this is about a sketch pad that once had something done from it.... but no actual pics of it.

Such as...?

If you read the OP, you would have seen my thoughts on the piece.

Just for you, here it is again with the important stuff emboldened:

Nice, didn't realise you were into it mate.

Bet there's a fair bit of TNS stuff up near you isn't there? Good Metro scene too from what i've seen on the net. Seems like Inch/Funk must spend his days living in layups, nearly every freight train I see will have a cheeky tag of his on somewhere!

Not as much as there was...Metros have been getting very tricky in recent years. You have to be quick and messy...I'm neither.

Inch has to be the most prolific tagger I've seen. I'm not a fan of tagging but I can't help but admire some of the spots he gets. I met a 17 year old earlier this year who claimed to be him...He looked a bit put out when I pointed out that he must have been about five when he started then.

FIGSkids got the rail bridge over the tyne last year...Wasted opportunity though :(

Pish with the whole legalities thing. My sister's boyfriend "paints" for money and has to take photo's of his work, not only on site, but with him in the picture actually painting, and sends it to magazines for which he gets paid. The pics of him actually painting are also published some times, too.

He also appears in "paint-offs" and has no quarms with declaring what is and what isn't his work.

edit: Oh, and they are not permitted/designated walls for painting..
