Interview at dominos pizza.

You have to show them your MOT and Insurance and then you get covered by their insurance, so there is no need to add business to your insurance.

You are covered under their insurance Third Party Fire and Theft ONLY - so no damage to your own car. Furthermore, you STILL need to notify your insurer as to your change of occupation - once you mention fast food delivery driver, most will decline to insure you full stop.

Went through all this hassle when my sister decided delivering pizza was a great idea

I'm assuming this is a side job, so "student" will do for the job field :)

You need to list all your occupations. Otherwise it classifies as non-disclosure and thats really not something you wish to be doing. Especially if you are using the vehicle the insurer has an interest in for the purposes of the work.

I worked as a Dominos delivery driver last year so just ask any questions.

The pay when I was there was quite competitive, around £5.35 I think, and I was 18, then I worked out that on average I got 50p per delivery in tips, and we got paid 60p per delivery in petrol, or £1 if you went outside a 3 mile radius. The petrol more than covered my fuel and on an average night I would deliver about 12 pizzas, so the tips work out around an extra hours pay for free.

It was a good job and I enjoyed it and you will too, there is a big map on the wall and you will get co-ordinates on the drivers slip to show you where on the map it is, carry and A to Z aswell though.

As for the interview, they normally aren't picky, I just turned up and it was basically them taking my details, no questions asked really.

Hope this helps, any more questions just ask.

Ah thank you, something helpful :p Nice to know they provide insurance.

Doesn't get you out of the problem whereby you'll be uninsurable everywhere else, though.

I'm sure hundereds if not thousands of drivers in this country do this anyway, Dominos would have a hard time hiring if everybody had to get business insurance.

Most people just dont bother to tell their insurer and hope they dont have a problem. Very clever.

Basically delivering pizzas in your own car is a totally crap job thats far more hassle than its worth and makes you barely any money after you take into account running costs. This is why staff turnover is so high.

Running costs like insurance? I had insurance anyway so that made no effect on the money, and driving a Punto meant that there was hardily any other running costs associated. Driving your 5 would obviously not make sense but something small which will not need servicing often is fine, I don't see why this could put you off.

So I went to the interview. He didn't even ask me any questions, just explained the pay and hours and then went off to get my uniform, although I explained that I couldn't start straight away as I'm going on holiday next week (and I'm going to a party tonight but shhh).

Get a grip. |Its not the highest paying job ever but its not all that bad either. I did it many moons ago and made more money than most of my mates doing shop work etc. I know fuel costs have gone up but the per delivery rate is usually fairly good tbh. As for the wear and tear on the car, either do it in a cheapo car or accept its gonna need a bit more money spending on repairs. If you do the right shifts you can make over £9-10 an hour, not bad at all for a young person imho.

Insurance is normally covered by them, it was when I did it (although for pizza hut) and your normal policy will not go thru the roof, it will go up abit is all.

Of course this is actual advice from someone who has actually done it, rather than from a few internet heroes who are more than likely garnering their info from their unsuccessful pizza delivery job on second life.:)

How do you know what their staff turnover is?

How do you know what their staff turnover is?

Because my best mate at Uni worked at the local Dominos in our 1st year as did somebody in my family, doing exactly this. The staff turnover rate was huge, the conditions are average, it ruins your car, you make sod all money, its loads of hassle.

Come on then, fill us in on insurance details - are they providing you with insurance or? Also what is the pay out of interest?
