Surely you can find the config files and delete them?
Go to your games menu, right click on the icon, should be an option titled 'play DX9'. If you go into customize you can move 'Play DX9' to the top of the list, that will make the game launch in DX9 when you double click the icon.
I don't have a clue why they defaulted it to DX10, it runs like a dog and only looks marginally better than DX9.
Exit Steam. Delete ClientRegistry.blob. Restart Steam. Watch it fly. Watch it slow down. Repeat.
I'll be buying a hard copy when its like £5. PC gamer has reviewed it with a score of 60%!? Yet they have scored the witcher enhanced 81%!? A game the are infamous for scoring low last time around when most people liked it.
What's wrong with buying it through Steam?
1. You run the possibility of throttling your connection(traffic shaping) resulting in even lower download speeds.
2. It's more expensive than buying it from the shops.
3. You can't determine where you want to install the game. It automatically installs it onto the drive where steam is installed.
4. You can't sell the game if you dont like it.
5. If you uninstall the game, and fancy a blast a few months later, you have to download the whole thing again. You could backup onto a disk, but why not just buy the proper disk anyway?
6. You have to downloads crysis wars seperatley, and whilst your doing that, you cant play warhead.
7. You don't get a case or instruction manual for quick reference.
8. If the game ever gets corrupt, you have to downloads the whole thing again
Basically, what IS the point in getting it via steam? I wouldn't even bother if it was available a week earlier.

All valid points, but to get a hard copy, I must venture outdoors where gangs run the streets. I cannot take that risk.
Only if you can't pick a normal isp. Tbh your own fault if you didn't read an isp had such a ****ty policy about downloading a lot...1. You run the possibility of throttling your connection resulting in even lower download speeds.
Not always, but I agree, this is a bit ridiculous...2. It's more expensive than buying it from the shops.
Install steam where you want your games ?3. You cant determine where you want to install the game. It automatically installs it onto the drive where steam is installed.
True. Well, you can just create a new account for every game and sell the account on if you're desperate...4. You can't sell the game if you dont like it.
Is this a problem? I hate installing from cd/dvd's, it takes quite a while for big games, you may have to change drives, and you have to input all kinds of rubbish like cd keys, whereas in steam, I buy it, it starts downloading, I play another game in the meantime, and it's done in an hour, perhaps 2 for big games like crysis...5. If you uninstall the game, and fancy a blast a few months later, you have to download the whole thing again.
Big deal? Start the download and eat diner or whatever ? OR play a non steam game ?6. You have to downloads crysis wars seperatley, and whilst your doing that, you cant play warhead.
You do, in PDF format...7. You don't get a case or instruction manual for quick reference.
I'm getting 6-7mb now![]()
Well, i'm generalising here - not sure how many gamers may be on limited ISP packages, I know i'm not - but due to where I live I have a 1Mb connection, the distance from the exchange and rural location dont allow any better.
So for me to pull it down on steam, even at top speed would take around 20hours for 8Gb, so a release date on 19th means id be looking at the 20th at best to play it, and seeing as I dont know if i'll like it or want to keep it - i'd rather have a physical copy for resale later!
I wouldnt pay £20 for a film that I could only watch 3 times, or can watch as much as I like but never sell - so why should I do it for a game?
