So took the the Westfield up to sunny Carlisle for it's SVA test up today and unfortunately it failed but if there is such a thing, it was the best type of fail. It failed on two easily resolvable things:-

Speedo under reading compared to tru road speed.
Left Side hand brake @ 16.5% efficiency - target is 18%!

We tried to sort out the speedo there and then but run out of lower end adjustment - I think I'll just need to add another magnet for the pickup sensor to "see".

Andrew (the tester) said he couldn't see the hand brake pulling that much on the left hand side so suggested the cable might need greasing or the drum pad pivot points might need greasing.

So, all in all, dissapointed but very pleased at the same time - he found nothing else wrong with the car at all and even the headlamp aims were correct - he was very complimentary about the car overall and liked the wiring in particular and the fact I'd made an under cover dash panel to enclose the dash wiring. Emissions was one thing I was concerned about but it flew through @ 1.11% (limit 3.5%) CO and 74ppm HC (limit 1200). Noise test came out @ 95db so well within the 101db limit.

Weight was 605kg without driver but obviously all fluids - so you can make that 550kg dry. Not bad for a boat anchor'd car :-)

Excuse the phots - in all the excitement i forgot to bring my proper camera and had to use my mobile. Shame I have to go back for a restest on the two failiures which means I'll have to hold off on ffitting the better steering wheel, carbon half doors etc - even though it's only tested again for the two failiure points, it has to be present "in the same condition as the first test" :-(

Unlucky in a way but glad to hear that it's simple stuff to fix! I wonder if it's worth taking for an MOT beforehand to pick up silly little things like light alignment and brake efficiency.

The wheels look better in those pics as well. ;)

No, because the SVA test is stricter for brake efficieny. Head lamp aim maybe but a lot of people do that and still have to adjust them SVA time as the testers like to do things their own way.

Wheels look betwer because the cars at the right ride height now :-) And it drives perfectly on them as well :-)
