I brought this motherboard so i could use a new graphics card. Problem is I've connected everything except the cd drives on to the board so the question is a) where is it on the motherboard or is it a diiferent cable for it?

b) the motherboard is a Asus P5KC Combo Intel P35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 & DDR3 Motherboard if this helps people

Thanks

David.

I'm new to the forum please help

I haven't got a sata dvd drive just bog standanrd dvd drive prior to the sata range coming out. There is only 1 connection on the motherboard for the ide connection which i thought is for the hard drive not the dvd drive.

Have i brought the wrong board then?

Or should i buy a sata dvd drive and use the ide cable for the hdd instead?

The dvd drive needs to be plugged onto the motherboard somehow but isn't sata just a plain simple ide cable if that helps.

Thanks for the help.

Probably cheaper and easier to get a SATA dvd drive. You could allow the hard drive and your IDE dbd drive share the same cable but its not an ideal solution.
