OK, I have a major service & MOT this week and the end of my rear blade wiper is coming off. Sadly, these are a single unit and I need to replace the whole wiper arm, which I cannot get in time for a couple of reasons.

Am I right in assuming, if the faulty wiper is in place, it will fail the MOT, however if I remove the wiper completely I will be OK? The reason I ask is there are many people out there who do this for aesthetics and I cannot see them putting the wiper back on for the purposes of an MOT as not every car has a rear wiper anyway.

Any advise would be great.

Its possible to get a replacement rubber from a motor factors for a couple of quid, not ideal but it'll pass the MOT.

It shouldnt fail, worst to expect is an advisory, but its not a valid reason for a fail.

I had them fail me for stiff suspension recently  Ended up going back and arguing until they gave me a pass. Wont be going back there next year.

I've no idea if this is true, but is a rear wiper similar to foglights - if it has them they must work.

No, the rear wiper doesn't have to work or the rubber can be hanging off and it will still pass. You wont even get an advisory.

Just put my car through the MOT for the second year with a split wiper blade on the rear.
