A W reg one, that is.

Oh my god... horrible gearbox, stiff clutch and accellerator, no guts at all, what an experience! I thought my 306 was a bit ropey but I'm glad I didn't have one of these as a first car :D

I never understood why they got so much of a slating on here, but now I consider myself slightly more educated ;)

That is all.... "Thanks for the info" etc...

I had the same experience the other week, my mate asked me to drive hers because she thought her clutch was going...

...it was evil.

Mine's just been ran into by my neighbour and is in for repairs. Been driving an 08 Fiesta 1.4 5 door as a courtesy car. It just makes me realise what a bucket of **** the corsa is. I hope I don't get it back ¬_¬

I dont care what anyone says, cars dont come much crapper than the Corsa :)

Generally I think anything Korean causes agressive, involuntary disembowelment. best avoided.

I drove one to Berkshire recently. Horrible motoring experience. No motorway guts whatsoever, horrible interior, the thing sounded like a sewing machine. Oh and the driving positions weird, the pedals felt very off center to me? (or the seat, whichever). Spose the only positive is that it was very economical.

Yep.

There are cars out there that are worse, but they all have an excuse for being worse - older, cheaper, built in Birmingham etc. The Corsa has no excuse for being as soul-crushingly rubbish as it is, which makes it worse.

Out of interest, why do the chavs flock to them like flies around the proverbial? I assume they're rubbish to drive, they look awful and don't have any redeeming features which I can see. Are they particularly cheap to insure or something?

I like it best when they're debadged and have a pipe the size of a dustbin lid on them. Nothing screams "performance car" more than a chavved up Corsa.

Some people just like the Vauxhall brand and don't seem to care/know that it's a pants car. I remember being amazed at the way a colleague at work thought that the Escort was an amazing car and that it was a good idea to swap a mondeo for a K plate 1.4 Escort. He seemed to think that the Escort had more street cred!? He was from quite a tasty area of town... I don't mean to be snobbish really but it is interesting how different cross sections of society view cars in different ways.

The original 1.2d (I think it was), L reg corsa's weren't too bad - they had a certain character to them and couldn't half pull a lot compared to their size ;) (we had one that was quite nice).

The later versions, especially the petrol ones lost all the character, what looks it had, and were absolutely awful in comparison (I had to drive one as a courtesy car, I think the real courtesy would have been to tell me they didn't have one...).
