GTX 260 or 4870?

You confused me now lol.

I got the GX2 for 150 quid which is not too far.
a 4870 1GB can be had for around £190 off OCUK atm, which is 40 quid more than what I bought the GX2 for.

And the 4870X2 costs more than 300 quid surely?

Well OK, you clearly didn't buy it new, or if you did it was a steal. £272 inc delivery here on OcUK is cheapest which is what I was referring to. And yeah, 4870x2 is more than £300, but you were saying crossfiring the 4870s took up 4 slots, to which I replied 4870x2 which I've seen for around £330

No its not new. But then its still got 1.5 years manufacturers warranty (6 months OCUK warranty).
So 272inc delivery is what it costs brand new and I got it for 120 less surely thats good?

Sorry when I said 4 slots I mean it takes 2 sockets but takes up the space of 4 cards (i.e. since each 4870 is has a chunky cooler on it which blocks the second slot beneath the first.

Im not looking to SLI (i.e buy two cards)
So I think apart from the 4870X2 which is more than double what I paid, the GX2 is the best single slot card on the market surely?

Got ya, and yes, the price you paid makes it an acceptable purchase imo. I'd still place the GTX280 ahead of the GX2, then again similar argument you had against the 4870x2 which is the price.

You got it.

Otherwise I would've gone with a 4870.
As I say I only really play CoD4 and Crysis Warhead now. Not much else.
The way I see it, most games should come with SLI support from now on since its "the thing".
And if its an older game that doesnt support SLI then its no big deal since the technology required to play that game will not certainly stress a card such as a single 8800GT (which the GX2 will be effectively running at as easyrider pointed out).
