I'm looking for a widescreen monitor for gaming only but it must do 75hz at native res. Can anyone recommend one?

I don't want to turn this thread into a discussion about refresh rate.

I'm not really too clear on the subject but I thought LCDs were limited to 60Hz and any higher rating is just some sort of marketing BS

The only way would be to get a 23" widescreen monitor thats a CRT, sony used to make em, you can probably get one second hand.

I dont think theres any LCD monitor that does higher than 60hz, other alternative would be to buy an LCD TV that does 100hz, but again it wouldnt be 75.

I can tell the different between 60hz and 75hz on my VX922 and the latter does feel smoother in q4. Not aware of any widescreen TFT's that have that refresh though.

If 75hz was better than 60hz for gaming then we would all have 75hz gaming monitors. It isn't, so we haven't.

It is better, the more Hz you have the smoother the gameplay. Pretty obvious on a CRT, not sure if the effect is same on TFT tech though.

There are 100Hz panels out there for main stream TV's. It just hasn't filtered down to Computer TFT's yet (the tech is there).

Because the Manufacturer's want us to upgrade in steps, more money for them that way...why else do you think they still won't provide us with a plastic stand that is properly adjustable for all TFT's ;)

Easy to part a fool from his monies as long as fools keep upgrading for no tangible benefit.

different technology. they create 100hz by filling the gaps in the 50hz signal they recieve. they do not accept 100hz inputs.
