I've never had a lot of luck shooting the WAH-64D Longbow Apache of the Army Air Corp.

I missed them by a day at RAF Coningsby, missed them by an hour at RAF Cottesmore and watched them fly past me whilst I was in the car!

This all changed Thursday when I spent an afternoon at Wattisham Airfield, the home of the British Army's two Apache Regiments (3 and 4 Regiment AAC).

Here is a selection of photos from the day. I've taken loads and I've had a tough time picking a selection to post.

As per usual I've added them to my site...

There is a few different photos on there and also a link to my full selection from the day.

For those who know there Falklands conflict history, here is Bravo November, the only Chinook to survive the sinking of the Atlantic Conveyor.

Nice photos. Ive been doing building work on a house near Wattisham Airfield and love watching them fly over , problem is there so low, which means i never get much of a warning to get my camera ready for them.

fantastic photos gord  i see the longbow most weeks as theres always one at augusta for service/checks, but as im working never get to shoot one :(

awsome machines.

Great photos Gord, you certainly get to see some very cool stuff close up! How many Apaches do the AAC have?

Also on a side note, I was hoping to find some older photo's I am sure you posted earlier in the year from the Loop, but I don't see them on your website. The one I particulary remember was one of a Hawk looking as if it had just entered a steep climb and was coming right up to you, with a farm in the background. It looked very purposeful, like it was escaping a bomb drop on the farm!

Cheers guys.

The British Army purchased 67 Apaches.

The photo you want is this one....

www.g0rd.com is my image library, it contains almost all of my old stuff and photos that don't make it onto my fast-air.co.uk site.

excelent photos as always :-)

im sure its been asked before but how do you get access to the hangars etc?

Anyway I can is the answer! :D

Mostly it's organised via an aviation group; Cottesmore Aviation Group for this one.

Nice shots, Griffy, the troops waiting to get on to the Chinook are they Canadian soldiers before Cadpat was introduced ?
