It also has the brakes from the GTi, but without the coloured calipers.
 
I had the std 1.4TSI and in all honesty I was left rather underwhelmed, its was quite a noisy engine (was only a 3 month old hire car).Rest of the car was pleasent enough, it was like driving a vectra, a pretty much nothingness car!
 
You couldn't have driven either car for very far, because the Golf drives nothing like the Vectra. Even that or all your senses have malfunctioned.

Or that its a car that does nothing very well ala the Vectra, does nothing very badly either,its just a car that makes you go, well, meh,as i say it was the midrange 1.4 tsi, the im sure the GT is better.
 
I believe the 140's were originally sold in Sport trim, and the 170's in GT trim. They are now combined into the GT Sport and are available in 140 and 170 flavours.

I think thats either the 140ps diesel or the 122ps turbo only petrol, audi don't fit the super/turbo engine in their cars.

I might have been the 122ps turbo only (also badged as a tsi), this doesnt have the sports suspension/bigger brakes of the 140/170 models. I'm really pleased with the drive.
 
I gotta say the one I tried was noisy aswell, I initially thought it was a diesel.Decent chassis, so-so interior, looked nice enough tho.

Personally i preferred the 170 Diesel GT, but the new price is hideous.
