Don't get me started on those. They moved into a local dogwalkers carpark on the banks of the River Tamar and took it over with caravans and Transit Tipper vans.

What did the council do?

Built them a shower block!

Problem is they needed to get rid of them/move them on but the local authority is obliged by law to provide a site for them - not much you can do about that in London so the costs are pretty high.

Not really the councils fault tis the law that would need to be changed - I really don't see why people should have an automatic right to live in a caravan and that we as a society should have to make provisions for it - if they don't have anywhere to stay and can't find a site then they should rent a place like everyone else.
 
Good grief, the bile in this thread is amazing. It's 3 million quid. In the grand scheme of things, that's peanuts. That's like 10p per taxpayer.
