Wedding Photos 20th September

Great pictures, but theres a theme throughout of putting people in the middle of the frame leaving massive amounts of empty space above them and cutting there bodies off when you could easily align their face in the top third of the frame and have more of the person in shot.

Just my opinion what do others think?

I find myself doing this a lot - I have the centre AF point turned on and tend to focus - half press - recompose and shot. The problem is that I often don't adjust enough.

That's it, the Nifty is going to be mine again, I miss the crispness, the contrast and the way it forces you get be more creative being fixed FL :D

Very very nice imagery, Nikon has always had the edge on skintones and the D80 has easily shown that in your images (I assume no PP was done to add contrast etc?).

Now to decide if I want a 50mm 1.4 USM for the noise freeness or the 1.8 mkII again!

I strongly agree. Some of the photos are very nice but too many of them have a large empty space above the heads and the feet and legs cut off.

E.g No 1. just looks wrong, a pretty women to the left which is obviously part of the scene looking towards the man in the center- but shes cropped off. Instead the mans head takes center frame. Makes me want to get a better picture of the women but shes all cropped.

Or the 3rd picture. A Big area of over-exposed saturated sky that distracts from the portraiture, but at the bottom we don't even have the girls elbow complete let alone including her hips to show her curves which would be much more elegant and balanced photo. There are several other like this where some bland nondescript top part of the photo is taking up space while the viewer is missing some details.

Pics 4 and 11 unfortunately didn't work because there are items blocking the subject. Can't be helped but I would hesitate in including them in an wedding album. Similarly in photo 5, but I think this is a DoF problem. The glass in the foreground is very soft (the man is very nice and sharp). This soft glass distracts from the image, glass usually needs to be crisp and crystal sharp to work well in photos I find.

Some of the photos are really great. Number 2 especially. In general the exposures seem very good, the post processing nicely done, the images sharp and contrasty. Good skin tones throughout.
