Central heating - when do you switch yours on?

My house is still staying very warm due to heat output from the boiler itself and lots of electrical and lighting, i cant see heating being necessary for a couple of months yet. Even then i've only ever ran it for about 2 hours per day.

I tend to like the house fairly cool so even when the heating is turned on it's not normally set to kick in until the temperature in the house drops below ~15C.

The house is also fairly well insulated, enough so that the boiler on heating water when needed normally keeps the house at a comfortable level.

Heating probably wont go on until the second half of November (depending on the weather) at the earliest.

when it gets way below freezing..

hardly ever have it on. Problems staying cool in summer, not staying warm.
+ computer keeps room toasty anyway.

yeap I have no idea why people like setting houses to 21-25 degrees. In my book it's like a sauna. A nice cool 16-17 is ideal and a good few degrees below that untill the heating goes on.

Well I wont put mine on until mid november generally depending on weather, and even then have it off in my room due to output of heat from amp/pc/tv etc. But my parents will be back from their 6 month jollys on wednesday and will no doubt complain its cold and put the heating on in some form, even though for all my childhood years I would moan at my dad for putting the heating on. Oh how things change :D

Usually have it on for 2 hours in morning now -(2-3 hours at night ) if someones in the house - as we work 4 days/nights then 4 off, thats only really 4 out of 8 it's on.

But it's on the lowest temp, and it has to be on in the morning to heat our hot water too. We use heating oil (not gas) - which is currently £460 for a 900litre fill.

Like said above, November ish for me, even then none is on in my computer room for obvious reasons.
Im a cold person, i always have a window open even if its November and raining. my girlfriend does nothing but winge about it but she feels cold on a summers day!

I'm like that in the car, i always keep that set at around 18C, the house on the other hand stays at low 20's. Means i can walk around naked all the time

I never touch the controls. The heating is on a thermostat so if the temperature drops to a level that I've previously determined to be 'chilly' then the heating comes on and increases the temperature of the house.

GF always thinks its cold so it gets turned on as and when it's needed. Just got out gas bill in for this quarter and it's steadily gone down although it's bound to go up with winter coming along £90 for 3months isn’t bad

The same, mine is digitally controlled so its set to 18 during the day and 20 in the evenings.

Ours is set to come on whenever the temperature drops below 20.

Our timer is a bit tricky to set up, so unfortunately it comes on when the house is empty during the day as well sometimes.

Not unless I can see my own breath, litteraly.

I put extra blankets on the bed ( which make a huge difference ) and also have a duvet next to the sofa!

Somtimes I treat myself if im feeling fragile, but its a rare occurence:D
