Hey just, just been into my local gaming shop and i see they have it on sale at £15, just what people think about it?

Thanks.

I have read quite a few good things about this game. I am thinking of picking up myself. I think IGN gave it like 8.9 :)

I'd say yes, its a brilliantly addictive mix of classic RTS and large scale Empire Building - some games with lots of planets to take can last for days. Graphically its not astounding, but it does a lot with what it has. It blends micro and macro management quite nicely so you're not busy watching the little things all the time and can focus on combat and command when necessary. Might re-install it actually now that you've tempted me again :D

I won a free copy of this from PC Zone last month. Installed but haven't had much of a chance to play it.

Played for an hour or so then realised I'd really messed up the early stages of advancement, probably due to not reading the manual or anything. There's no Campaign, which irks me, but rather a set of scenarios and a free-play option.

Still, looks like a very good game once you get into it.

I played this game on a LAN with my mate, was pretty fun. We were watching Battlestar Galactica at that time too so it fitted in. Its pretty good, 'supreme commander of space'. I only have a couple of complaints, I wish the tech tree was more complex and the gameplay a bit faster. Its a good challenge, esp with a mate to ally with.

You can select really big skirmish maps, with 5 stars, 100+ planets, not just 1 solar system etc. quite big, 10 player slots, you and 9AI or you, friend, 8AI, hundreds of units spread across the solar systems and Pirate attacks.

yeah its good game, plus it can be had for cheap now, if you purchase download the patch, have it here and it improves GFX, explosions and stuff with seemingly no performance loss, infact seems to perform better especially later game, plus carriers actually have a purpose!

I was addicted to it for a while, but it got a bit 'samey' after a while. My main problem was the AI becoming predictable. That said, I clocked up a lot of hours and probably only got bored because I didn't pace myself. I get bored of games very quickly usually anyway too.

Was a good game but the "Dark Fleet" was a completely over powered game killer. On the larger maps the Vasari race just get so many free ships its impossible to win against them so you're forced to either play as that race to combat the huge number of constant free ships or just not play at all. I chose to not play at all and wait to see if it ever got sorted in a patch. Will try again when 1.1 comes out as it had potential.

Campaigns aren't needed. I much prefer to set up my own map and play against AIs of my own choosing.

It's actually a really good game. Had me addicted for several days, and I still play it from time to time.

always found the vasari a little weak myself, there fast as hell though and have much better phase technology than the others, but my preferred race is the advent, after the patch there drone hosts get three squadrons and there fighters/bombers are the best of the races, so carriers become there greatest asset :)
