I feel my old 8800GTX is getting a bit long in the tooth now, and I've been considering an upgrade. I game at 1920x1200 so do you think it would be worth getting one now or should I gold out for the next generation of cards?

I'm tending towards "no" myself as it still has 768mb of ram and the only game I've seen it struggle with at my resolution is Crysis and even then it coped pretty admirably. Just trying to stop myself burning cash on a new GFX card when it would probably be best to wait a little while longer :D.

unless your card is struggling or you get a good return on your card ,i wouldnt bother upgrading it unless you really want to

I was thinking of just holding onto it and then using it as a physics card when I do eventually upgrade. Infact I think I'll do that, no need to upgrade just yet ;).

It's only really struggled with Crysis as well, and even then it didn't drop below 20-25fps very often once I had messed around with settings.

Yep, no point upgrding it just because you cant run 1 game well, no card, or even cards for that matter can run that game well so theres no point, its not the only game in existance. :)

I've always avoided getting SLI or Crossfire as I have never really thought it to be particularly good value for money. Besides if I did go that route I wouldn't be using 8800s as they are getting on a bit now.

I will wait and see what happens with Farcry 2 then, if it struggles with that it might be time for a newer card.

eBay then use the cash towards a GTX 260 :D Wont cost so much more from the price you get minus cost of selling card.
