I thought i'd start a seperate thread from the car cleaning one for this as it's more specific.

I had my car treated at G-Techniq on saturday and i was very impressed. It's too early to tell just how good this product is over other synthetic sealants/waxes but the finish it has left on my car is quite amazing.

What's G-Techniq?

Smart Surface Technologies do the work. So you don't have to.
G|techniq Smart Products. For even Smarter Surfaces.

Perfect, then Protect all your high-value, highly exposed surfaces on cars, boats & aircraft. How? With G|techniq SST. Smart Surface Technologies from G|techniq.

Even better. G|techniq Smart Products do all the hard work for you.
If you've ever tried cleaning, waxing or polishing your favourite car, then you'll know how time consuming and difficult it is. Just plain, hard work. But what if you've got a boat, and it's mid-day on the med, and there's no shade? You'd be crazy to even try.

But unlike traditional polish, wax & polymer products which are difficult to use, messy, unpleasant, toxic and require you to do ALL the hard work, G|techniq Smart Products do the work for you. And they work no matter where or when. In sun or snow, inside or out.

And the results? Smarter Surfaces that do more than just look great now. Smart Surfaces continue to work harder for you, staying clean and glossy for longer. And they're much, much easier to care for. So there's more time to enjoy life. And less wasted on scrubbing & cleaning.

what customers are saying ›››

"I've managed Sunseeker yachts for years & tried all the well known gel coat restorers, oxidation treatments & even costly specialist polish / valet services. sadly, none of them has ever had any lasting impact on the major problem for dark colour gel coats: ugly white patches of oxidation.

"So when Sunseeker International sent down G|techniq we expected them to fail. they didn't. finally! a boat care system that just works."

Graham Young, Captain, MY Four Seasons, Sunseeker Predator 62, Palma de Majorca.

G|techniq's Smart Products are the result of some smart thinking. We combined cutting-edge research from leading surface technologists with rigorous, real-world testing by paint professionals, marine and automotive OEMs, end users and independent test labs.

I'm off on a road trip around Europe on friday for 3 weeks which should help see how good this stuff is. The key thing for me is that it should be low maintenence and long lasting - i simply don't have time to spend hours cleaning my car so anything that makes it easier for me is a bonus!

Interesting article here:

I'll be posting some more pics after my trip!

Sounds like Supaguard by another name. For the money you paid for that you could have paid a decent detailer to apply proper products to your car.

I don't think that's the case - but time will tell. From what i've read of people's experiences of supagaurd/autoglym and similar products they are poles apart.

Anyway - i'm quite happy to take a chance :)

supagaurd/autoglym and similar products

But supaguard and autoglym aren't similar products at all

It does indeed sound similar to supaguard (which is already stupidly overpriced), and from what I have read, I see no real incentive to believe this is anything more.

Autoglym life shine? From what i understand they are similar products...

it's not like the supaguard rubbish, it's a synthetic sealant which while being good isnt as good as others around the same price (e.g. werkstat). To get better than Werkstat you have to go all out and get the zaino kit, but thats about twice the cost if not more

You can buy the full g techniq kit (glass coating, trim coating, under coating and carnauba coating) for around £60

By glass coating you mean C1? I didn't think they were selling it to consumers due to the potential application problems?

p.s. but not the C1, they won't sell that to non-pro's as if you mess up the application you have to sand the paint flat again...
