Anyone provide themselves with a second income?

I tried poker for some extra income. Made about £60 the first month, then lost about £100 since :(

Every now and again I do freelance websites for people as I'm a web developer. Need a website Huddy? :)

I used to do computer repairs on the side and one day I decided to do it full time. Kept me out of trouble for about 4 years but I tired of it and went back to full time employment.

I'm a steward for local football team. its 27quid a evening free drink free food free football. Might not seem a lot but 2games a week 54quid it soon adds up :D

Was it that long to get good enough, or was you doing something differant? Im ok'ish at poker, but i dont think i could make a profit from it?

I run my own Print Design business, which even though I've done absolutely no advertising so far and have only really been working for the company that my Mother works for, has brough in a reasonable bit of money which has helped to pay for various things on my car etc.

Am intending to start advertising and hopefully get some more clients and maybe oneday develop it into my main income.

I learned the game inside out in that time, it was before poker took off in the UK, i had to play on american sites as there was no uk sites at the time. I think playing with the guys before poker took off gave me a much better feel for the game, i didnt lose a lot, and its extremely easy to get paid in poker if you stick to the basics.

Strangely, its easier to get paid the higher the money goes, playing $5-10-20 games people will call you with anything, playing $50 up, you get a much better game of poker.

Those sites frustrate me a bit, I thought of and did do this myself a few years back, ditto to the casino bonus thing - started with thespinroom back when you could simply cover everything on the roulette table and the withdrawal requirements would be met.

Now every man and his dog is aware of it, not through being smart enough to have discovered an opportunity themselves but because someone has provided an idiots guide on the net. Worse still is when you get people who read about it then still require further instruction in order to get it.
Now bonus bagging and matched betting is a lot less efficient than it was previously because there are more and more people doing the exact same thing. Clearly this was inevitable as it isn't exactly rocket science to figure out that there was money to be made in this way though it does illustrate in general that when you discover exploits in gambling your really should keep them to yourself or a close community as sharing them will only harm your own profits.

given my previous post I probably shouldn't expect you to answer this but, just out of interest, what sites do you use where players tend to have fairly loose play in $5-10-20 games ?

There's loads of players on party poker who'll call with anything in lowish stakes games and sit and go tourneys ($11 and under anyway).

I work from home through the day sub contracted for a Car Lease Company and do roughly 15 - 20hrs per week at the local Community/Conference Center on some evenings.

I am thinking on going down the route of PC Repairs/Support in my town as no-one does it but it will only be a project to start with to see if it takes off or not.

I like to keep busy but as Huddy mentioned, you need to keep a fine line between making money and spending time with the Family. :)

I work full time as an IT Technician for a charity, the wage isn't competitive with corporate work but it provides a comfortable working environment and is fairly laid back.

On the side I fix computers and buy, sell systems. I don't make a lot but it provides a bit of pocket money. I'm looking to go bigger eventually.

I have a big advert on the staff classified. Just by looking at someones PC it earns me £20.

Interesting. :)

The place I work part-time is Charity run and the trustee who was the IT Technician is due to resign and I have been asked to take his place to do the work.

If you don't mind me asking, what's your basic?

Was just looking at the matched betting and the blackholebonus site - is it me or do you only get a list of 6 places that are good for the matched betting? Seems a bit limited to me if it is.

Probably a bigger list somewhere but I am missing out on it.

Or you could just find them yourself.

Well, as the list is supposed to specify the ones that are perfect for matched betting I was considering those - but as it only has 6 it's claims that "you will be rich enough to buy France" seem a bit ill founded.

My second income is minute but a good laugh, I've got a band and we occasionally play round pubs and clubs. We also sell cd's at the gigs. Gives me probably an extra 50-150 quid a month depending on where we play, but I really love it. Sometimes get free drinks at gigs and free merchandise which is always good.
