Let's be honest - does the Wii & Wii fit actually make you fitter?

The gadgetshow did a piece on this, and yes, the Wii Fit will improve your fitness... not as well as other methods, but they did get reasonable results.. It's not about how it does it, as clearly it's a bit ropey in places, it's more that it helps motivate you and is 'accessible'..

The point of Wii Fit is to make you fit, the point of a fitness DVD is to make you fit. Buy Billy Blanks Tae-Bo/bootcamp workouts and you'll soon forget wii fit ever existed.

If you could string exercises with wii fit, it might actually become useful.

Wii fit is an awesome piece of kit, it caused me to gain 30lbs of muscle and improved my stamina by 300%. I hear they are now thinking of introuducing it to the pro athlete training routines.

On a more serious note, it's a computer game that has you moving more than the average computer game. It is no replacement for real exercise, and never will be.

From the sounds of it you and your missus just can't be arsed to put the effort into real exercise and are looking for an easy "quick-fix" to ease the conscience and make you feel like you're doing something. Go out and do some running together.

i think it would if you are a general joe who doesnt have the time / urge to run around and be laughed at in the street.

any exercise on that thing is better then nothing if your a couch potato.

its had me running a few miles, which is a few miles then i would ever normally run :)

Free jogging? Is that what it is called?

I tried that, you can do free step too.

Imagine jogging on the spot with the Wii remote telling you you are keeping a good pace while you swap channels and watch TV for half an hour. I have never run that far - managed 6.5km.
