8800 GTX - 4870 1gb

I've heard some bad things of certain makes of the 4870 (noise)

My brother has a Sapphire one which is silent when idle, and only spins up slightly when in game, not sure how noisy/quiet Powercolors are.
 
It was one of the Powercolors ones, that had the problem with the fan, possibly the PCS version.
 
My 4870 1gb arrived today (the Powercolor one on TWO)... runs much quieter than my old 3870 (both with reference coolers)
 
I'm in a similar situation, my 8800 ultra has been doing its thing for longer than i can remember but i like some new toys. Do i opt for a 4870 1 gb or even a 4850 cf setup? The ultra can still recoup a decent return on the bay and i mainly play source based games, any opinions would be appreciated as direct comparisons seem hard to find. I game at 1920x1200 and like some aa/af too.
 
Liking aa/af is good!

played warhead earlier and noticed it a bit laggy. Realised id played in the CCC and left 24xaa and 16x af on :D It reminded me of playing crysis on my 8800 haha.
 
Didn't pay the insane prices that were about for my ultra so the rocoup should be ok, sucker for new toys but i think i will be happy with the purchase :)
 
BOOM! Just bit the bullet and brought it :D Hopefully should see a difference in my FPS especially with the 4gb Corsair i also ordered! If im lucky they might get delivered tommorow some time. *wink wink, nudge nudge OcUK ;)
