.

By all accounts they are already here but Etailers are not saying what ones they have in stock so they can clear the discontinued C0 stepping.

I can't post the link but a well known Etailer is now listing the E8500 as E0 stepping due to many requests so i'm sure it will not be long before the E8400 gets listed too then it will force other Etailers to follow suit if they want to retain sales.

the difference isnt even that big with this revision is it? I mean its not like the g0?

Not in the sense that the B3 was 125w and the G0 was 90w but the E0 is supposed to fix the temp probe problem of the C0 and it also has Errata updates to it's internal system calls that fixes bugs and situations that can cause crashes and extra commands added as listed in the first post of the thread.

Not sure exactly what they do yet but one of them looks to do with media encoding.

- New ISA extension for save/restoring context of x87, SSE, and future processor state

So unless a C0 comes along second hand cheap due to it being a discontinued stepping in the same way that all previous discontinued steppings became cheaper i would go for a E0 and i would definitely get a E0 if buying new.

I'm sure people will disagree especially those looking to sell their old C0. :D :p

I'm just wondering how long its really going to be before the E0 are labeled and in stock? December time?......that would be too long for me.

w00t just found somewhere online selling e0 e8400. not listed on there webby as e0 but got a physical check. arrives tomorrow.

You cant compare 1 type of CPU to another.

The E8500 I had took 1.328v to be Orthos stable @ 4GHZ.

This E8600 takes 1.056v to be Orthos stable @ 4GHZ (no CPU fan running and the 2 case fans at 50%).

seen e8400 do 5ghz so I think your wrong.

Who is that towards ?

I never mentioned ceiling of any CPU only compared my voltages for same clock on 2 CPU's.

Hint, Quote the peeps your reply to. ;)

For the record many E8400 cant even hit 4GHZ, the E8500 got the best Core samples and even the E8200 mostly hit 4GHZ even seen some do it on 1.2V on XS.
