Hi guys, need balanced opinions here :)

Currently running the following:
C2D E6750 @ 3.2ghz
2GB
2x 250GB HD
19" Asus monitor (max res 1440x900ish)
Nvidia 8800GT with Thermalright HR-03-GT VGA Cooler
Vista 32bit

Currently playing the following:
GRID / Crysis / Warhead / WiConflict / Bioshock / TF2 / Stalker / Trackmania

Im getting back into PC gaming after a long hiatus (had no time for it), and i've been building a PC for a mate, who lacks a graphics card. I've told him ill flog my 512mb 8800GT (with Thermalright HR-03-GT VGA Cooler) for £50, which means I can probably pick up a 4850 for £50/60 myself.

Question is, hows the day to day difference in 1) Those games listed above? 2) Future games? I'd like the card to last at least a year or so...

Well from my own set up i have been using a 8800GT for about 8 months now at 1900x1200 and the only two games i have not been able to play at max is crysis and stalker.

For a 19" monitor the 4850 is more than enough and should last a while and if you only have to find another £50/£60 then go for it :)

Think i'll go for it, just a bit hesitant with ATi, always stuck to Nvidia (and 3dfx (!) before that)

Mate is actually brother-in-law, so £50's fair when it comes to that sort of thing :)

Not really. My rig (in siggy) runs everything at 1280x1024 maxxed out and with AA/AF (crysis included). I don't see the point in upgrading just for the sake of it.
