No I'm not about to sneeze :p

Fiat's cute 500 has turned over to the dark side! This is the 500 Abarth 'esseesse', and it's the meanest iteration of the 500 ever - stuffing as much horsepower under the bonnet as a Mk IV Golf GTI.

Apart from the ridiculous name it looks quite cool - wouldn't mind one in black

Does that make me Gay ?

My opinion on these may be slightly influenced due to seeing an extremely hot woman filling up at the petrol station the other day :D

I like.

My opionin has now changed, get these things off the roads. :(

Ugly.

My guess is that they were referring to the 1.8T GTI, not the 2.0NA GTI, so about 150bhp. But this is the kind of pants journalism you come to expect from Auto Express ;)

In fact Autocar are quoting:
Autocar said:
According to a source inside Fiat, although the final power output is still to be confirmed “we expect the turbocharged 1.4-litre engine to develop around 160bhp”.

I like the modifications they have done, but it's still a bloody awful car. Also could they have picked a worse comparison than a MkiV GTI :/

The stats speak for themselves: the 500 Abarth’s 1.4-litre T-Jet turbo engine is fettled to develop 197bhp and 230Nm of torque, allowing the esseesse to hit 62mph from standstill in 7.4 seconds and top out at 131mph.

197bhp and a 7.4s 0-62? it would have to be made completely of 2inch thick cast iron to be that slow

From a bit of googling other reports suggest a more realistic 160bhp as Scottland said...

Inside, a set of bolstered buckets keep drivers planted in the bends and expect a revised IP, red trim and Abarth logos emblazoned into the dash. No engine specs have been released yet, but expect the turbocharged 1.4-liter to put around 160 bhp through a six-speed manual before it reaches the front wheels through a Q2 Torsen C limited slip differential
