Carling Cup Spoilers 23 / 24

Yeah, he went into a 50-50 challenge like any full blooded player would for the sport. He got it wrong though but he wouldn't of meant to do it, hence he doesn't deserve the abuse really.

He went in dirty and mis-timed it though. He didn't just mis-time it. Studs up, through the balls into his knee. Completely unnecessary.

If he went in dirty he would have gone and not played the ball, he did make contact with the ball but unfortunately he didn't think of the follow through when he went into the challenge.

I don't condone the challenge but he wouldn't of gone into injure him.

Whether he's gone for the ball or not and whether he's tried to injure the lad or not, you can't lunge in 2 footed like he did as there's a big chance you'll cause a serious injury.

Like i said, that wasn't just a case of a hard tackle miss timed. It was dangerous and wreckless.

On a side note, I happened to watch a couple of minutes of the Rangers game on the BBC Sport website, the first goal really was something special.

Cracking volley.

Not wanting to keep resurrecting the Pogatetz story, it was nice to see him come out and apologise for the challenge. Whether he was prompted by Southgate or not is a different matter.

Someone should have told Colin Cooper that, he was mouthing off on the touchline until Fergie told him to sit the **** down

Nice to see Southgate's approach to it. Didn't try to defend the indefensible or claim he didn't see the incident, refreshing change.

I agree. I really think the way Southgate conducts himself he has the makings of being a very good manager
