Which Kebab ?

You should should try having one in Germany. Over there it's perfectly acceptable to have one for lunch or as a snack. It's just like getting a sandwich from M&S.

That's because they are actually good at cooking food regardless of if its a take away (excluding the usual mcdonalds etc)

Take they're Febo's for example.

But If I find one in Dortmund next month I'll give it a go ;)

Then you have no idea what you are talking about. Not all kebabs = greasy kebab house. Ever been to a Turkish restaurant? Some of the nicest meals ever and guess what they are kebabs,.

Indeed, but judging by everyone elses replies, and the OP's post, He is more than likely talking about a standard high street take away.

No need to get personal and say I have no idea :)

Besides, I've had kebabs on a stick before, and that was nice, so hey.

Mixed kebab, all the meat has it's own place and you must try it all. Loads of onions and cabbage, bit of everything else.
You gotta have a bit of everything, you can NEVER have a small always the largest, and you must always order chips and maybe onion rings.

Either have mint and chilli sauce or garlic mayo and chilli.

If you ever come to swindon.
Moredon grill your kebab will be pooling in grease sometimes, so watch out.
Sammys kebab, good kebabs, no complaints.
Best barbecue, absolute rubbish, the garlic sauce is also vile and watery as ****.
Kebab van by wickes, best. kebab. ever.

The other kebab vans vary but if you ever get a chance, by wickes, the best ever.

Tbh I order them for dinner too, they're a good meal, lots of meat, bit of salad, pitta bread. Jobs a goodun.
Also find it hard to believe some people have never tried a kebab, that to me is insane.

but you were talking about all kebabs and saying you would never have any type for a meal..

I'm not getting personal.

I was talking in the take away sense, I did not say "for a meal from a take away OR a restaurant"...

Not my fault you assumed I meant ALL kebabs in existance :)

It was personal to me, as I found this a tad insulting to be honest:

Then you have no idea what you are talking about

But theres no point in arguing over it :)

You'll probably trip over one before you leave the airport, they are everywhere.

The difference in quality is probably down to perception rather than anything else as it's first and second generation Turkish immigrants running them in both countries.

As they are for the drunk over here the standards tend to be lower as no-one cares.

Also, the quality of German food aint that great. I think their sandwiches leave a lot to be desired and need more imagination, their Chinese food is terrible and more greasy than here. The less said about Indian food over there, the better.

Recommending takeaway food doesn't really work since places serve up very different things by the same name.

I guess...

I just hate the high street take away ones...They must have the same 'leg' of kebab meat for a good week, constantly being heated hot and cold, and just left over night...Surely that's not good :p

I feel like one of the dirty few who adore kebabs.. the greasy lamb kebabs you find at questionable food places, covered in mayonnaise..

Not even just while im off my face either.. I could quite happily eat one for tea.

Much more tender too in my opinion, people can disagree with me if they like, but it seems much more tender/ and juicier too :D

Sorry, but this is rubbish. You may have had halal chicken which was more tender than other chicken you have had, but that is not because it is halal. Halal just means permissible. So halal meat has been slaughtered in a way permissible by the culture. Having its neck cut doesn't make a chicken tasty, being well fed, having space and a nice lifestyle might. You could hit it on the head with a hammer and it would still be tasty.

*Drool* kebab

Shish or chicken for beginners, with a little chilli sauce. Then move onto donners when you're ready :)

Chicken, mushroom and onion Shish in Naan bread with salad and garlic mayo! Or the good old Döner in Pitta with salad and chilli sauce.

ppl could recommend you all sorts but it just depends what the shop serves best.
if the shop doesnt look too busy then i wouldnt recommend it at all.....the meat will probably be quite old and donner meat isnt really healthy anyway.

but i prefer my donner kebab with all the salad and lots and lots and lots of mild chilly...or garlic and chilly

My advice;

Never go to a kebab van, they dont have sinks.

What to get? Whatever you like the look/sound of.
