5 door family tug - budget £5k

Ok, here's the problem with those - we have a large dog who we lug around on a weekend.

Pickle won't fit in the back of those Mondies as they're stupid shapes.

Well, he would - but we'd knock him unconscious when we close the boot.

Easy answer, get a smaller dog.

SOmething like that,

If not a civic, then a focus. You'd be able to pick one with a good spec list for your budget,

just a couple real quick examples. Might not meet your criteria, but it's what I'd be looking at as possibles.

As an afterthought, why not get the woman who wrote your wife's car off, to give your car the same treatment? :D

Bit like saying that a Neff cooker is overpriced because you can get a B&Q value one for half the price.

I dont really see how a Golf is worth the extra price over the mk2 focus.
Parents have a 2.0TD 140ps (iirc) new focus and I cannot find much to find wrong with it, apart from the depreciation, which makes them a fantastic used buy.

If I was - just hypothetically speaking - to mention the words Mercedes A Class.

Just hypothetically speaking - how hard would you lot laugh?

Seat Leon Derv would be my choice.

But that Honda did look good for the money, espcially for a women.

Yah, and tbh if any estates are an option then i'd have a volvo.

Get a leon or a golf, she will probably prefer the golf.

My parents have one of those Civics (albeit the pre-facelift 1.4) and while the interior finish is a bit budget seeming, its all very solid, utterly reliable with a crazy amount of space in the back seats. The 1.4 is ridiculously weedy (seriously, look at the 1.6 or 2.0 and forget the 1.4 even exists) and the steering is over-assisted for my tastes and the soundproofing isn't the best (although I think they were supposed to have improved that in the facelift? Not sure), but for an effective reliable A-to-B car, they're superb. If the interior is rated on how luxury it is rather than being spacious and nicely laid out however, it might not be the right choice.
