Thats why I made the 'End Call' button hang up on Data calls... rather than 'Lock' the phone (which it never seemed to do?!?!)... I just have to remember to do it!...

I'm still a little dubious of bricking my phone by upgrading the ROM... especially as mine is a Vodaclone'd version... :D

I'm finding texting sooo much faster... using the 'Samsung Keyboard' with the predictive switched off... plus I can actually write 'real world' words rather than 'txt' speak!...

Anyone tried the transcriber??... its a giggle.. I don't think it likes my handwriting though!!.. :(

go here: http://www.modaco.com/category/342/samsung-i900-omnia-http-i900-modaco-com/

read through Secany's ROM research thread. On page 14 you will see he has uploaded three rar files. they un'rared to this file: http://www.wjea.co.uk/i900DXHI1.zip

This file needs to be run from WINDOWS XP ONLY!

You will also need the Samsung XP driver for the radio flash bootloader mode found here:http://sg.samsungmobile.com/promoti.../omnia/SamsungModem_xp.zip&p_visitgbn=0000012

It is important you install the driver or you will break your phone. Also make sure that your computer connects via active sync to your computer via the USB port you intend to upgrade -this is my own advice.

I updated my phone by:

1) Connecting phone to WINDOWS XP via active sync.
2) Installed the driver for boot loader
3) Run program and follow simple instructions.

= Brand new omnia! :)

Where do i find thsi transcriber? And how did you set the lock key to end data? Can't see that option

I'm on the vodaclone Omnia to, i want to upgrade firmware because this one is riddled with bugs

If we brick them, can we replace them through voda and say they just wouldnt turn on?

Its one of the keyboard options... (well it is on mine)..

for the keylock change... go to Settings... Personal... Buttons... End Key... Disconnect Data Calls (radio Button)... ok

You can change a lot of the 'Key' functions in there!!... :)

Keep us posted on you'r upgrade... does it wipe all your data/Customisation???..

Drop it into the 'Windows' directory on the Phone (not Storage) and it'll appear in the list!... (I found this out when I found all the other 'Alarm' sounds in there whilst hunting for goodies!!)...

Hey guys, a note for any existing Orange users who upgrade to this phone:

Orange cap mobile charges at £1.50 (fair use applies etc) a day but this is only activated for NEW customers. You have to phone up and ask for it if you are an existing customer or be prepared for massive data charges!

Ah crap......

It worked :D

Now witness the real beauty and power of the omnia! :)

How much faster is that rom? (this was supposed to be a rhetorical question to Camalot, I have been using this rom for a week now and its much much faster and has loads of bug fixes)

Haptic feedback? = win.

o2 dont give a rats ass now they have the iPhone. I waited for them but they said they didnt know when they were getting them in. I had been with them for a couple years and they were ready to do anything to keep me. I said how about you look at other phones other than the iPhone in future, I am going to orange.

I did something similar... I've been with O2 for probly 6 years... and I don't like the iPhone (even the 3G one... Crap Cam etc...)..

O2 didn't seem to understand me when I said I didn't like it and wanted either an Omnia or Sony Ericsson G900 (Symbian phone)... neither of which they look like stocking in the near future!...

So I went to Vodaclone!... (not been with Voda for upward of 10 years!!! after I got messed around!!)... So far I'm quite happy... but I have only had the Omnia for a week!!...

Just installed the latest ROM and i'm glad i did. I could tell instantly the difference in speed etc. Thanks for posting it, has made a huge difference. I'm starting to really enjoy this phone.
