Hi guys,

So myself and blastman went out for a quick shoot last night, started off at the docks in Southampton, where we didn't have much luck with the shots, before moving onto Hatchet Pond in the New Forest.

Turned up at about 9.30-10 ish and it was pitch black, and pretty overcast and so didn't think the shots would turn out great. However a quick 3 minute exposure on the first shot and was amazed at the colour in the sky, so continued peeling off a load of shots until my battery died.

All pictures are pretty much straight out of camera, apart from the mono and 2nd shot. Only thing done is re-sizing/cropping.

So C + C please..... (excuse the dust on some of the shots)

fantastic stuff.

Can you let me know what setting you used to get these. A total noob here and interested to find out what settings used

They are breathless. Especially number 2.
I'd go with the mono - as the left side red brake-lights are abit distracting on the colour one. Brilliantly shot.

Lovely shots. I wish I had a location like that near me .

With some more time and some ND filters to keep the exposure long, it'd be great to see some longer star trails, as the composition of the first couple are spot on. I don't think the light trails from the cars really add to the others, though.

thanks for all the replies guys, We had never considered this location before but now i know some of the sort of shots i can get i think we'll be going back. I do intend to get some ND filters so would like to try the star trail shots as i love the look.

Only problem with the location is that there is always the chance that you will get pestered by the police as it is a known 'smoking' spot.

Lovely shots. I think I may have to head there one evening too :D

I'm surprised you couldn't get much from the docks... Quite a good place to shoot at during the dark.

great shots, i prefer the toned version of the last two. and the 1st one is my fav out of that batch!

Excellent shots, really like these.
i prefer the colour version, the mono seems a bit washed out.

wow, thanks for all the praise guys, much appreciated. It's always nice to get a load of positive feedback.

I think it was mainly down to the fact that there was only one boat in, and we stayed in one spot rather than walking the length of the bay to try and get any shots. I have had a few nice shots from there before so was a little disappointed, but these shots made up for it!
