Reassure me!

Yeh that's what stopped me buying one, after seeing them go for £170 and even less I couldn't bring myself to do it.

Same here, I saw the HIS 4870 for £164 inc VAT, missed my chance.. now there is no way I'm paying £188 for one.

Just sticking with my 8800GT until one drops to a similar price or less.

As other's have said, you should have ordered the 4870.

However the 4850 will cope admirably with that resolution :)

The 4850 would have been a really nice upgrade and handled your res nicely. Still the 4870 is better but more pricey. You would have enjoyed the card which ever one you had chosen so don't worry about it enjoy the 4870.

I've just ordered a 4850 and I'm already thinking maybe I should've gone 4870 ...

I game at 1680x1050
e6300 @2.8ghz
asus p5n-e
4gb corsair twinx
xp pro
8800gts 320mb

I play in the same res, similar set-up, runs perfectly well. I went through many 'a review comparing both 4850 & 4870 - 4850 always came up as the recomendation - i.e best bang for buck as the yanks would say. To be honest the performance differen't wasn't massive anyhow - the 4850 out performed the 4870 on one of HL2 setup's over at THG. (yes 1fps but it counts :p)
