Van der Vaart

VDV is awesome, a genuine world class talent. Every single goal he's scored for Real Madrid thus far has been a thing of beauty, and it's pretty much been the same wherever he's been.

a world class talent perhaps but not a world class performer thus far. he lacks the reliability or consistency to be labelled that yet; doesn't get hold of games as he should or as often as he should; often flits in and out of games.

it hasn't been the same wherever he has been really, his performances have often been rightly chastised... albeit because he has the potential to do so well.

To be fair that second goal, the back heel wasn't going in until it took the deflection. Still a hell of a player, that pass to Robben for his goal was immense.

How good was Raul's last goal too, I do that in footy matches, surprisingly I can pull them off too!

The last goal was the best, wonderful chip by raul, he's always been great at finishing and surprisingly he still plays great for his age.(32 now?)

Bit like Del Piero.

Good goals, but calling the Gijon defending dire would be a compliment.

Conceded 17 in the last 3 games(4,6 and 7), going to be more embarassing for them in La Liga this year than Derby found the premiership last year.

I wouldn't drool over VDV from a performance against them, same way I don't think Adebayor was world class when he put a hatrick past Derby. he is good but think he, or maybe we need a little time to see how he does on the big stage consistantly.

Also yes, that 2nd goal in no way can be given to him, frankly as a manager against Barca you'd slap him for that as he could have just shot, his backheel was off target and lucky to go in. But thats the thing, they played as they did, Raul's finish included, because by that point it was exhibition no pressure football.

Cracking Game watched it on Sky the other day.
Brilliant attacking football ! could have been more :)
