brothers in arms hells highway

I read the ign review and had some feedback off my pirate mates and I haven't had that much decent feedback. Defo a rental for me. The MP doesn't interest me at all.

IGN reviews are normally pretty close for me.

When I think back to the PC one I only played through it once and sold it on even though I loved it.

hopefully the PC graphics will be of a higher quality..I ordered it on that format instead of the 360..I alwatys liked the lighting int he first 2..it had a nice soft quality that seemed at odds with the fighting going on.

haha! ive just ben playing it :D mate works in blockbusters and gets to rent them before they are released!!

this game is soooo much fun, really hard in parts but really makes you think :D

and you're killing lots of nazis so its all good :D

Depends if you like Brothers in Arms...have you ever played any previous one?

My copy should be turning up today and am looking forward to it! I loved the first game because of the difficulty and strategic-ness of it. If you like hard and strategic games you'll like it!

If you have never played a BIA game before you may be disappointed as it seems like the game is a run and gun when it isn't. Will tell you my thoughts when i get mine through! :)

anyone had a bash on this today? i ordered mine on tues but hasnt came yet,i might pop out and buy one from a shop and just sell mine when it turns up.

Playing the PS3 version:

Graphics all over the place - sometimes look really nice, sometimes, umm... not so.

Doesn't quite feel as 'solid' as the previous PC versions - can't really put my thoughts more cohesively than that. It still retains a strategic approach as run and gun will generally get you killed, so at least it's not a complete FPS.

One gripe I have is I'm sure a developer said you could play the whole game without firing a bullet, as you could control your squads to do everything for you. Second Episode in and already I'm on a mission *by myself*.

Otherwise, I haven't played enough to form a better opinion, but during an evening of this, Pure, WipeoutHD and LBP, this was the most un-fun.

If it doesn't pick up soon, I'll be trading it.

(Something else has also just 'arrived' that will probably take my time anyway)

Played about half the first proper mission and pleasantly suprised.

I'm playing the 360 version and the presentation isn't anywhere near as bad as I expected with it looking sharp and colourful in game. The only stutters I've had so far have been in cut scenes and I haven't had any other glitches yet.

I've been enjoying the squad tactics of the game and the cover system has been working well so far.

I've also just seen Gamespot give it an 8.5 so it seems I'm not alone in liking it.

I need a few hours more (once the family are in bed later) before I'll give it a definitive thumbs up but so far so good.

Yeah, clearly we need more modern games with predictable russian\arab enemies and a storyline revolving around missing nukes.

You not sick to death of WW2 games? Personally I think they've been done to death. Plus this game isn't exactly great...

I stand by my review.

What about WW1, there's a game coming 'called to end all wars' at the end of october. Will WW1 cheers you up ;) It's your era.

Im not sick of ww2 games because the simple fact is the ones that are any good are few and far between. The crap ones don't really matter in that respect. Theres more modern shooters on the market than ww2 games by far yet its always ww2 getting the slating.

The good ones i would say are as follows:

MOH:AA
Call of duty 1 & 2
MOH Airborne

Thats really it, hardly a gobsmacking amount.

you left out brothers in arms:)

Brothers in Arms is bit of a different take to the ordinary WW2 shooter. It focuses a lot more on individual character development, story and squad combat. I think it's good that one developer chose to do WW2 differently.

Nice to see cheating A.I in this game, no matter where you sneak they always know where you are. I'm playing on veteran btw.
