Crysis Warhead - Gone Gold

Been playing this for a few days now and as with Crysis I'm feeling massively underwhelmed. It runs better but I don't think it looks as good (maybe just a case of not having the wow factor of the original) and it's just not keeping me interested. I'm playing it for half an hour at a time and getting bored.

I completed in one sitting the first time, and 2nd time in 2 sittings. But I probably wont play it for a while now. Will stick to Crysis Wars.

I think your problem might be you was expecting too much. When one expects too much because of hype and good reviews, it kinda ends up spoiling it for them usually. I choose not to let that happen to me and it works out well in the end.

I'm confused guys.

At first the game was running well, everything on "Gamer" at 25-30 fps til I hit the first part with snow...then it wouldn't go past 15fps. So I downloaded a config(the one mentioned on this forum) and it was a god send, literally. I was seeing 35+fps all the time no matter what and it just felt so smooth. I played for a bout an hour two and enjoyed the game immensely.

I tried to play again today but I'm hitting a maximum of 10fps and that is completely unplayable. The strange part is even when I look at the floor and get 30fps it feels very, very jittery.

Any ideas?

Quite enjoying this... didn't really get into the first level but after that it improved a lot. Graphically it's definitely been toned down compared to Crysis - can run this with all settings maxed (but with no AA) on my 8800GT. It seems like they basically removed the 'very high' level. Crysis is technically stronger but I think Warhead might be the superior game.

The same happened to me yesterday. I dunno what caused it, but after I restarted my PC it seemed to be fixed.

Am just at the entrance to the mine and defending the guys while 'Cupcake' primes the C4 is hard work on Delta - have just tried it a number of times but always get over run !

Will have to experiment with placing the C4 a bit better - as that kinda worked a few times in taking out the little aliens - if they get in close and lunge its bye bye mosta the time!

Placing it? I diidn't place anything and just concentrated on taking out aliens, seems a teammate does it eventualy.

The engines been optomised so it runs better, most articles have said it looks better than crysis.

Just finished it and thought the last mission was a bit of an anticlimax. Found it way too easy compared to the last mission on Crysis although the bugs were part of my problem in that game.

Overall I thought it ran a lot better than the original, although the graphics didn't impress me as much, and I didn't encounter any bugs. As with Crysis it didn't keep me interested for more than half an hour at a time but it didn't feel like a chore to complete. Good but not great.

I was able to use some pretty effectively a few times but kept being over run and eventually one would swipe at me right up close - often from behind so I didn't stand a chance!

Will give it another go shortly - gotta shave first ! :o

Finished the game & i was disappointed again, only CDT once plus i had to run it on minimal setting (see sig for details).

Anyone encountered the bug where you die if you stumble over the oil drums ?

Happened to me several times. At the port where the submarine is stationed on the second mission, there is an explosive drum next to the building where the grenade launcher is.

If you try to jump over it, you die.

Have just reached the section based on the train and its brilliant - haven't completed it yet but am loving it!

The mines were funny - just at the end when you get to where to train yard is I just used the Claymores and ended up with a very large pile of bodies all twitching which looked really odd.

I'm guessing the train section is now nearing the very end?

Haha... I have come across a new problem, when trying to get to the tower to contact the VTOL, i died a little later on so it reloaded back to being infront of the comms unit and i just fall all the way down through the floor to the bottom and i die.

Here's a vid: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=D0GtCaErn1w

I quit the game and I'm just about to reload it to see if that sorts the problem, otherwise I'm gonna have to go back to a previous save and see if that sorts it.

Weird.

I presume you're not playing it on Delta aka THE ONLY WAY TO PLAY.

He said compared to the last mission on Crysis - and he's right. The last mission on Crysis is much harder as it's straight on fighting from all sides for the final battle compared to a single exosuit with a superweapon on Warhead. You can use your abilities like cloak for the last area with a bit more freedom on Warhead's last battle (it's how I got to the superweapon in the downed plane) but the aliens on the original Crysis as well as that massive battleship can sniff you out no problem and the environment isn't very easy to navigate - a great big hole right behind the small barricade where you sit behind and use the rocket launchers from.

Warhead and Crysis are overall equally difficult though, some parts I got through easy and other parts I died over and over.

Correct. I don't spend enough time on games to master them so prefer to pick a level that's suited to my ability and enjoy it. Delta would've probably raped me hard. Having said that, I found Warhead much easier overall than Crysis on hard especially the end boss for the reasons KNIVES gave above.
