Wii; what's on the horizon?

I'm not somebody who needs to kill someone every 2 minutes to call a game good-I adore Zelda, Mario and the vast majority of other Nintendo games. However, my Wii is currently sitting in the corner gathering dust. I have Smash Brothers on it, which is great but seems to offer little over Melee. Pro Evo Wii is also good, but Pro is the sort of game you want to play with mates, and most of my mates would rather play it on the Xbox than the Wii.

I've owned each of Nintendo's last 2 consoles; the 64 and the Cube, and never found the so-called shortage of games to be a problem with them. Just as I was getting a little bored Nintendo would release another cracker. Now, though, this doesn't seem to be happening. I'm not having a go at Nintendo, but since MP3 and Mario Galaxy all seems to have gone quiet.

I guess that what I'm asking is is there anything for me on the horizon? Is there another "big name" Nintendo game on the way? Anything else that a "proper" gamer rather than a casual gamer ought to look forward to, or should I sell up and move on to pastures new? If so, this is a little sad-I love Nintendo, but currently see little reason to keep my Wii.

Note: This is not a "I hate Nintendo and everything they have ever done and am therefore selling my Wii NOW" thread. It is a genuine question about whether there is anything that would suit me on the horizon.

I've already got a decent PC so don't see the point in getting a 360 as well; there is very little on there that isn't on the PC, or at least has a decent equivalent on the PC. I've always found that having a PC with a Nintendo console was a pretty good compromise, but I'm beginning to wonder whether just having the PC would be good enough for me!

Disaster - Day of Crisis
Samba De Amigo
Wii Resort
Shaun Whites snowboarding
De Blob
Blast Works
Wario Shake It!
Animal Crossing - City Folk
Star Wars - Clone Wars (Lightsabre duels)
Impossible Mission (Not really heard much on it and has been in development for ages)
MadWorld
Pikmin 3

Also a new Zelda and Mario are in the works but dont expect them until 2010/11.

i honestly think Nintendo have looked at the sales produced by the casual market and those produced by the likes of mario and metroid, then added their production costs into the mix and realized the casual market is just a big pot of gold.

There will be better games coming, but much fewer and further between than they ever have on a Nintendo console just because it is easier to make money on casual games.

I'm never an advocate of selling consoles though, there will always be at least ONE game you really want to play.

Yea I absolutely agree, and can understand why they've done it-the trouble is that I'm not sure I can afford to keep the Wii if I'm only waiting on a game or two. If there wre a host of games coming out in the leadup to Christmas like there are on the PC and the other consoles then I would keep it, but if it is merely a case of holding out for the next installment of Zelda 2 years down the line I'm not really sure that it's worthwhile...

I've played Zelda, I've played Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart, Metroid Prime and Smash Bros. All great games. With Chrimbo coming, it seems like a perfect time to sell the thing on. Shame, but there's no sense in it sitting there week after week unused.

A new tenchu game is being released for the Wii early 2009, hopefully it will utilise the motion controls to be true ninja! hehe Not just a gimmicky shake the wrist you do an attack kind of thing.

Boom Blox, Samba?

My PS3 and 360 gather dust when friends come round - the Wii just can't be touched for offline multiplayer.

Mines been gathering dust since I finished Zelda which I LOVED. I'm just letting it sit dormant till the next Zelda is out. I've got my PS3 in the mean time.

That's true in part-trouble is that with my mates Pro Evo is pretty much the only multiplayer that we play, not that I'm complaining!!! (can't get enough!)

The Wii has far better party games, I just seem to have too few parties to use them at!!! Or if I do have one it quickly becomes a Profest!

I'm in a similar situation to Meatball; mine has been gathering dust since Metroid, except for the odd game of Smash Bros. The majority of what I play is on the PC.

I was in a couple of games shops yesterday, ive not loaded a game up on the wii since smash brothers, and there was absolutely nothing on the shelves that interested me.

I noticed the DS has gone this way as well, just a load of shovelware for this as well.
