just wondering if i can run geforce 9800gx2 or geforce 260 on this pc and what one is better to upgrade on this system.

core 2 duo 2.13ghz clocked to 3.01ghz
4gb ram 2gb pc26400 and 2gb pc2 5300
ocuk huntkey 550w
asus p5k
1 80gb hard drive
1 360gb hard drive
2 120mm hard drives.
1 led on the case

let me know as i want to get one today

I wouldnt risk it, from what ive read the huntkey psus arent very good. Spend the extra tenner or so and get a corsair VX450 it should easily handle it, i ran SLI 8800s on mine without a problem :)

i dont mind spending extra tenner but i already have the psu and that setup and i am currently running 8800 gts 320mb. i want a bit of raw power this time to play crysis warhead. by the way i have a pc in my office with 9800 gt 1024mb and its clocked with rivatuner when i do that the crysis runs on highest setting without a problem but whenever i get to a checkpoint the game crashes. just the game not the whole pc. you know whats the problem.

I wouldn't risk it myself. I can't see the 9800GX2 pulling much less than my GTX 280 which caused my Tagan 700W to start squeeling with these components:

Gigabyte P35 DS4
E2200 @ 3.4Ghz
2x 2GB Reaper X
2x 1TB SeaGate
4x 120mm case fans
2x 80mm case fans
1 DVD-RW

My Tagan 530W powered my quad Q6600 (B3) at 3.3Ghz and my clocked 9800GX2 as well as 2 hard drives and a bunch of fans no problem. But not sure about huntkey on the specsheet it looks ok but don't know about its reliability. As said if you are planning to use a high end graphics it's always wise to invest a little more in PSU.

As for GX2 vs. GTX260 (assuming it's the new 216sp version) it's a tough call in some games the GX2 performs very well with SLI but I still think the GTX260 would perform better in general, runs cooler than GX2 too and only requires 2 6pin pcie plugs rather than 1 6pin and 1 8pin.

hey thanks for the info, about the squeeling on your 700w psu mines sometimes does while playing a game. only sometimes though on geforce 8800 gts. i dont mind investing but dont know what i am going to do with the psu now and it will be £70 on top of £230 or so and i dont have that much available. i never bought a ati in my life, i went fron geforce 2 mx 4400, to geforce 5200, geforce 6600, geforce 7300 and now geforce 8800 gts. ive been buying nvidia stuff so bit of a hesitastion with 4850. let me know if this outperforms the 8800 gts and i will go buy it now as its available in cex.

It outperforms the GTS but it's not a huge upgrade. I'd probably go for the 4870XT which is more or less the same as the new revision GTX260 I think for £50 cheaper.

hi, so you are saying i cannot do crossfire on this, but when i read its description it said it is cross fire compatiblr and both are 16x slots. i went to pick one up today from cex but they really suck £125 for the card without a box or no accessories. i guess ocuk here i come but there delivery kills asswell. £8
can some one tell me if ican xfire on asus p5k board.
